I'm not sure why people keep saying this. Both of the animal crossing spin offs did pretty bad. I think them revisiting new leaf for the amiibo update was a good sign that they understand what went wrong. Even if you don't like the idea of amiibo, it isn't absolutely nessesary to access features in the update.
