This series is very divisive, and people will argue to the ends of the earth over which path the series should take.
Plus it was the first game to be really popular outside the most niche groups and we do get a fair bit of contrarian bastards and shitposters because of it.
I think the level of hate will also depend on just how much exposure P5 will get. Even after the record breaking sales (for Atlus) and the Internet videos, I don't think the series is going to expand that much.
