Just beat WW for the first time, and I'm honestly baffled because it doesn't feel like I did anything until the very end.

After the Forsaken Fortress it just felt like there was no real reason to do anything other than get the Master Sword and collect the dungeon items, like I never had a point where I felt like I could break off from the story and just do sidequests and explore, I would just go back to Windfall and some random islands after finishing a dungeon, collect a few pieces of heart and maybe a treasure chart then be on my way.

It never really felt like an adventure, it just felt like I was doing errands for the fucking boat.

That may just be my fault, but it doesn't feel like I rushed through the game. Anyone else have the same problem with WW. or did I just fuck up?

You always had the opportunity to explore, you just didn't take it. Almost every Zelda game can be boiled down to going down the checklist of main story content but then you deny yourself all the interesting side content.

Only problem I had with the game is I fucking agreed with Ganondorf. No reason we couldn't raise Hyrule from the bottom of the sea, absolutely none.

I first played WW when I was a child, so when it first came out. It was one of those games that shaped my childhood, made me want to go on adventures etc.

I bought the HD remake and honestly I sort of get what you're saying. Obviously I had a huge lens of nostalgia to play through, but it really is a game for kids. Its not challenging at all and the sailing gets repetitive (bloody goron trading sidequest) but the story and characterisation are great.

Sorry you didn't get to experience it with the same wanderlust I had as a child.

Nah, at this point i think Nintendo want the evil in Zelda to be more abstract i.e. not an entity as we know it. They already revamped the Gerudo to be more humane, dropping the whole 'thief clan' idea, so i doubt they'll want Gannondorf the man to return.

I personally would love a more human Gannondorf, like that of WW, it makes it much more relatable than a giant ball of black smoke.

I could see them adding a male gerudo just to show that gerudo kings aren't always bad. As for another human ganondorf, maybe.
