Also people forget that time patrollers can be taken from any point in history, they just always choose to be taken from or slightly after the point Vegeta gets blown up. It just seems silly that everyone uses the same backstory for their Saiyans, if you're going to get into that backstory stuff you may as well make it unique.

reposting in case someone is actually interested Tea was born an orphan and was raised alongside with his younger cousin Coffee by his adoptive brother Sencha. It was him who taught them the rudiments of fighting. After spending his early years with them, they split, and Tea went off exploring the universe. During his travels, he explored many different planets and trained with martial artists of many different races. It is during his travels that he met Captain Ginyu, who, seeing his potential, decided to take him on as a disciple. He spent a few years with the Ginyu force, until Ginyu tried to steal his body, and it was then that Tea realized he had nothing left to teach him. He then left soon before being summoned into the time patrol by Trunks. During his time on the TP, he also went back for space adventures, with Jalid, Lima, and a few others to s̶e̶c̶r̶e̶t̶l̶y̶ ̶c̶o̶l̶l̶e̶c̶t̶ ̶a̶b̶a̶n̶d̶o̶n̶e̶d̶ ̶f̶r̶i̶d̶g̶e̶ ̶e̶g̶g̶s̶ plant trees and tea shrub on seemingly random planets. It was during his time with Ginyu that he realized he was one of the last remaining members of a dying species, and he felt he had a responsibility to save his race from extinction, and rebuild it into a peaceful society. Ginyu is also the one who taught him how to pick up girls.
