This is correct. Games with sections you can do in different orders etc. but without unnecessarily huge areas nobody ever asked for is what they should do. It's also more fun to explore smaller areas with a lot of detail to them than just huge maps with maybe some interesting things every 15 minutes.

I blame EA executives trying to chase that Skyrim money. We can only hope someone somewhere along the line will realize that this is a fool's errand.

It's been a very long time since I've played NWN1 so I never thought about it before, but the ancient elves are really just recolored lizardpeople.

I hope the Dragon Age team realizes this. Open world maps always make me feel disconnected with the narrative, because of the mmo-like content.

One of the reason I liked Trespasser dlc so much was the linear areas..

Is Leliana any fun? Her introduction was so immensely off-putting and her starting topics and stories bored me to death, so I haven't used her yet.

When I played Origins for the first time, initially I liked Alistair/Morrigan over Leliana, but the more I talked with Leliana and got to know her personality, the more I liked her.

Liking or hating a character ultimately depends on your taste. Some people dislike Leliana for being too soft, not lewd enough, being a chantry maniac, shifting personality, etc. But I like her traits.

She shows great character development, and her character arc is quite fascinating. Her sweet french accent, nug pets and Schmooples, love for fancy shoes, keeping your eyebrows in a jar, love for mages/elves, bard tales, changing the whole Chantry rules as a Divine just for her Warden, etc. Plus she is the most beautiful and the cutest character in the game, even the npcs mention that!

You should keep Leliana in the party and see if you like her. She is a bit weak in combat tho. And don't forget to play the Leliana's song dlc.
