There is absolutely no reason to play the German BB line because you get the best German BB now. Bismarck was great because her secondaries and now you can just buy a Tirpitz and skip the entire thing. It's fucking retarded. WG is making their game irrelevant.

Bismarck and Tirpitz are a good example of a free ship vs a premium one. Torpedoes are highly situational whereas hydro will come into play every match, though a skilled player won't need to rely on it as often. Bismarck also comes with better AA for whatever that's worth. The whole situation is well balanced now as opposed to Tirpitz being unquestionably worse. The problem is that Bismarck is still ridiculously strong and will likely get more nerfs someday, leaving Tirpitz OP.

Bisko has actually good AA and mother fucking Hydro.

Tirpitz only has good AAA and no hydro. 6km torps aren't THAT useful.

They should reverse their policy about not nerfing premiums. Some deserve it because whatever buff Tirpitz gets can't be reversed.

Tirpitz torps are very situational and probably overall less useful than a good hydro.
You're greatly overestimating Tirpitz torps usefulness or you're underestimating Bismarck hydro; anyway this is a real overreaction from the community, GK and FdG are very unique fun ships, Konig and Gneisenau are loads of fun and Bayern is still somewhat good.
Plenty of reasons to play german BBs even if you got Tirpitz or Scharnhorst.

One of the things for the event is kills. So of course kill securing would be at an all time high due to that grind.
