What's the opinion of Fusion City Rising?

I'm just looking for some more content I can squeeze out of the game.

Is there a more realistic overhaul than Horizon? The lack of damage and generous carry weight deters me a bit.

Not that I've found. You could try War Never Changes. I never got to try it 'cause I don't have the DLC. Immersive Gameplay was kinda dumb when I tried it. Had raiders tanking 15 chest shots of 7.62mm.

What I've been using is a mix of NPC Limited Ammo, Loot Overhaul, and most of the Arbitration modules. Kinda lackluster, and I'm still looking for stuff to add though.

I've been putting off finishing FO4 until I'm capable of having a particular experience via mods. I was excited because I've discovered the Start Me Up mod, but 'fixing' the gameplay is still a huge chore it seems. Guess it's time to put this game back in the vault.

What mods are considered essential for Jew Vegas?

Got anything for just a perk overhaul? PIPBOI got discontinued, Nuclear Perks is made by Darren, Perkwork could have been the holy grail but is discontinued and you only have a 50% chance of starting your game.

Horizon does too many things. Not sure about WNC though.

Not really. The vanilla perk options blow, and I've yet to see one that makes them not suck shit. I'm using a few of the options from Makanar's Perk Options and Gunplay (Automatic Weapon Perks Rebalanced), those are more for making the perks slightly more appealing shades of brown if anything.

If there IS a good perk overhaul, I would love to know about it, but last time I looked there wasn't anything great. Maybe I'll look again.

How low a level should I start doing the New Vegas DLC's?

If you go through them in release order, then if you can survive Dead Money, you'll be at the appropriate level for the rest. I've actually noticed that having too high a level makes Honest Hearts ridiculous. You'll be swarmed by naked crazies with kevlar skin who will blow your head off with 50cal weapons.

I'm speccing my character with survival so maybe I'll could go as low as, level 7. I kind of want to do them earlier rather than later

How immersive is Horizon's combat? Are humans gonna survive 2+ headshots? I know the game is more about tactical pacing over raw damage when it comes to combat balance, but HOW resilient are you?

I think the biggest hurdle of DM is crippled limbs. You don't get to bring your own doctor bags and I don't think there are many of the stuff necessary to craft poultice or hydra. There might be for weapon binding ritual. I don't remember. I went in with science and medical last time and I could make my own doctor's bags.

Hey /fog/, I originally posted in the previous thread how I dislike the NCR Ranger Combat armor (mainly the helmet), and implied it was overrated. I also mentioned that I liked the Merc Charmer Outfit (because it was a good balance of sleek, sexy, and functional). Anyway, reading through the previous thread I noticed a lot of later posts that had Riot Gear, or Ranger Armor, and the like, someone would immediately reply to it saying Merc Charmer Outfit "was better", and even at one point copied my description about it. A must-have for me.

I don't personally use it because back in the day JSawyer.esp would not work well, even with just YUP, it was a bit on the crashy side. So I wound up using my own modification using PN as a base (I know, Project Nevada is pleb central, but it has a lot of built in stuff so it's a convenient streamlined package). I have looked at this "JSUE" a bit, but it seems to adds a lot of random optional things I'm not necessarily a fan of. I do like it's basic premise, about adding JSawyer's rebalance via scripts to make it more compatible with other mods. But it does seem big and fluffy, and I've already been through that bs with PN so I'm not ready to commit to another overhaul tweaking session anytime soon.

I disagree about character overhauls, I think they are all garbage. Hi-res eyes, Hair normalmap fixes for the saran-wrap shine, and better skin and face textures improves NPCs a ton, especially with improved lighting. In any case visual stuff I don't consider real essentials (the LOD noise texture is the only one I consider essential, and that's because it's very subtle but is a marked improvement on the distant landscape from vanilla).

Thats because Fallout 4 is less modded, despite having more mods, because most mods just add more weapons/armor, since no one has the need to make many big mechanical based mods, since Fallout 4 already has most of the big mechanics mods from Fo3/NV in its base game and DLC.

It was done to perfect an FEV strain to use on their super human synths,m and as a means to create weapons to keep the surface too busy to attack The Institute directly.

Shaun himself states the reason why The Institute messes with the surface, despite also claiming to not really care about what the surfacers do, is because the people of the surface could become a threat, and only a fool keeps his eyes closed to possible threats.

I think the NPCs in NV are better than vanilla FO3 myself. Also hi-res eyes and decent skin and normalmap/specular texture goes a surprisingly long way. Most character overhauls wind up changing NPC races, get over-detailed, and add more than simply "improving" the "potato faces". Of the main characters, NV isn't that bad, Boone and Veronica are the only really ugly ones, but in general people look alright (especially with improved eyes and skin textures as I've said).

I'm saying this as someone who was a fan of Project Beauty in FO3, too. That in FO3 was much more minimal but greatly improved looks; I hoped there would be one similar in NV, but all the character overhaul mods in NV just got way too big and beyond the general scope in my opinion (although I stopped looking after settling on skin textures).

Ghouls look way different in FO4, too. I would consider it more a stylistic choice rather than evidence of the groups being specifically different (although I do agree that most of the FO4 Super Mutants are probably Institute created and culturally different from the DC ones).

I'm looking for dehydration at peak hours of the day, being forced to scrounge cactus for water, next to no stims, food scarcity, etc.

That's generally how it goes. Outside of main quest NPCs and a few important side characters they're all RNG'd into existence. No real need to expend resources on shit people are going to run by and forget.

Fun with the Survival Options mod. Assuming it doesn't conflict with any of your other mods (like overhauls), it lets you customize a lot of the shit in Survival and change things you find tedious (like sleeping bags only letting you sleep 3 hours).

I think the assumption that all modders only produce work for downloads is a bit of a shallow analysis of a group's character..

While I'm sure we all know two individuals that do, many folks like Buffscale make mods to satiate their desires for things that don't exist in the base game.
