my view GGG's handling of balance comes from knowing a group of people decided, after some presumed testing period, the things i mentioned were reasonable additions to the game

It's not even that GGG can't balance their game. It's that they already control the item and currency drops, if they controlled the player economy too it'd be far more damaging to the economy.

You instantly remove competition and things as basic as supply and demand. A regalia with 6 T1 affixes could already go for a pretty penny if they were common but it can go up even more if only a few exist. AIV would cut into any pricing that comes as a result of scarcity. Or if you have a meh unique and some streamer finds a good use for it, then everyone is going to want it, but AIV means the price can't change.

Furthermore there's nothing to differentiate your store from others. There's no way to sell your 10c item for 8c as incentive to get yours bought before others.

Plus, pricing for things would eventually be arbitrary. Crappy uniques that go for an alch suddenly cost 10c whereas stuff that would get you a few exalts in the past would only get you maybe 50c.

Prices for crap would rise, prices for good stuff would plummet, and nobody would be able to reliably buy OR sell gear.
