I'm relatively 'new' to the game with a little over 4000 battles. I'm pretty bored of Russian tanks and want to go for a slightly more novel line like the French lights- mediums and heavies. Are they fun or will I just continuously get BTFO? I want to play something quirky/ hipsterish but still have fun.

The bat and 50b are really fucking good tanks. They are hard to play, but as a result much more rewarding and dangerous in the right hands. There's a reason the Bat sees so much competitive play, along with the 50b on occasion. They have the potential to make very amazing plays.

If you go French lights, you're going to be suffering through various levels of mediocrity until tier 9 now that WG assfucked light tanks. The French lights in particular were kind of shit before but at least the ELC was good. Now the ELC is shit and the other French lights that were already bad got even worse except for the 1390 which got a huge buff.

Naw. I just remembered I made that image awhile ago and felt like posting it.
While the AMX 30b does have some nice features, the barrel, mantle, wrap around bustle rack, IR(?) box, and rather large cupola make it inferior to the Centurion Action X. also the blue paint job is shit tier.

The Centurion Action X has
>Bore evacuator
>thermal shield
>bustle rack
>angled armour
>no gun mantle
>a more discrete cupola
and a tonne of other knick knacks (like the smoke launchers or camo net for instance) that add to the overall aesthetic nature of the tank.

To each his own though. Tastes are largely subjective though it has been objectively proven that the Centurion Action X is the most aesthetic tank in the PC verison of the game :^)

This giant fucking waste of space comes in the form of massive bodies of water, open plains with zero cover, or just impassable terrain like mountains. Why in the fuck does WG refuse to use all of the map space when making maps?

Well obviously those big open spaces (not the mountains) are to cater to the german tree which excels at long range shots

Be a good little goy and don't question that no one would ever go those routes, nor that you'd still need someone out there in the open spotting for you, german tree is perfectly viable and balanced.
