> military successful loss of two world wars
What Germany is worshipped for having done twice, France did for centuries
This plus a very effective and innovative centralized administrative apparatus that allowed these resources to be marshaled more effectively than other European countries. This applies during the absolute monarchy as well as under the Revolution and Napoleon.
Catholicism
France was already secular by the time they had their greatest military successes and colonized muzzies
Its delicious how japanese imagine france full of aristocratic nobles dressed in xviii century attire while in reality its a full blown leftist multicultural shitfest full of niggers and christkiller communist rioters
>high population = lots of soldiers
>central trade position + fertile land = very rich
>highly centralized government = high control over resources
France became (officialy) secular in 1905, thus no
And France really became secular in 1968
It was officially secular from 1789 to 1804 also, and basically state atheist for part of it, which includes some pretty impressive victories. And it wasn't Catholic from 1804 to 1905 either, the French state supported Protestant and Jewish religious institutions as well and had religious freedom. And most of the leaders were atheists.
In 1600, France had roughly 5 times the population of Great Britain. In 1800 it was still 3 times. Today it's about equal.
t. non french
The Catholic church and the state was separeted in 1905, and the a few years before that the entire education system was owned by catholics.
And even after that France was still catholic with an absolute majority and a lot of political power, it wasn't until May 1968(commie revolution) that the french become weak nigger loving atheistic cowards we know today.
t. knows nothing about French history
>entire education system was owned by catholics
lol no it wasn't. Since 1804, the French state supported different religious institutions equally, so there were Protestant, Jewish, and secular schools as well, and in 1882 mandatory secular education was instituted.
>And even after that France was still catholic with an absolute majority
Only nominally, which is still true
>a lot of political power
lol no
Read up on the Concordat, the lois Jules Ferry, and the Parti radical (dominant party 1905-1940, very anti-clerical.
Their population advantage was most of the time negated by the fact they often took on coalitions like you can see on that pic In the end, they were outnumbered more often than not
They singlehandedly created few historical memes. Like english memebows.
100k men with united leadership perform far better than 10 armies of 15k men. When you actually go looking at the forces on the field, France outnumbered just as often as it was outnumbered.
This. A system verging on total war meant the more men, resources, and more effective leadership actually were delivered where it mattered militarily. France isn't exactly a small or poor country to begin with, but even nations or coalitions with more resources and better tactics on paper weren't centralized enough to deploy effectively.
>lol no it wasn't. Since 1804, the French state supported different religious institutions equally, so there were Protestant, Jewish, and secular schools as well, and in 1882 mandatory secular education was instituted.
>Never of heard of the Black Hussars
>Never heard of the 1904 law
>Claim that i do not know french history
Pick one
>Only nominally, which is still true
Looks like bullshit to me
>lol no
Looks like a lot more bullshit to me
>Read up on the Concordat, the lois Jules Ferry, and the Parti radical (dominant party 1905-1940, very anti-clerical.
Read my previous post i already stated the 1905 law separated the Church and the state.
Like individual battles?
This desu senpai
>low birthrate
France has one of the highest, if not the highest birth rate in the developed world.
I think he is only referring to the birthrates of actual french in France.
If France is so great why did they lose the French and Indian War, Napoleonic Wars, Franco-Prussian War, and have to be saved in WWI and WWII? Serious question.
The French have always been good at fighting battles but never making any actual friends which results in their downfall.
You know you're disliked when fucking Perfidious "Do NOT Make a Deal With Them" Albion can rally a coalition against you.
>No SJWs
>SJWs everywhere
Because in 1400 year of history France got more golden age and shit age than the rest of Europe.
Not the guy you're debating with, but "looks like bullshit to me" is not an argument
Those are still higher than anywhere else in Europe
>the French and Indian War,
Because they were outnumbered more than 4 to 1, and yet still managed to hold on for 9 years.
>Napoleonic Wars
They won most of them, and then got overwhelmed by the sheer number of countries against them.
>Franco-Prussian War
Shitty commanders plus outnumbered by Germanic hordes and their human wave tactics
>WWI
Did the most to win it of anyone, but again Germs had an almost 2 to 1 population advantage at this point, plus the element of surprise due to attacking through neutral Belgium
>WWII
Really shitty commanders and again outnumbered
fuck off back to leftpol, SJW
>>Never of heard of the Black Hussars
>>Never heard of the 1904 law
>>Claim that i do not know french history
>Pick one
Since I know about the first two things, and you clearly don't know French history beyond a single law, I pick the third choice. You really should have thought things through before you posted this.
cia.gov
63-66% of French still declare themselves to be Christian.
Classic autist behavour. Knows one fact (1905 law) so fixates on it to the exclusion of all others.
>fuck off back to leftpol, SJW
>and have to be saved in WWI
Reminder that if needing allies to win doesnt count as a real win, then Britain has literally never won a single european war in their entire history
But heh, at least they still have their wins over Zulus and Abos lmao
Isn't Britain more successful, from the time nation states started to appear?
Something like the Battle of Bouvines is not the Nation of France vs the Nation of England/the Nation of Germany.
On both sides of the battle you had powerful French nobles.
And Frederick II, a German, sure as hell wasn't hoping that Otto would beat Phillip II.
When nation-states started is a matter of dispute, but even if we say only since the French Revolution, then the UK probably does have a better win:loss ratio, but always in a coalitions in which they generally contributed less than others. France has lost more, but their wins are some of the most impressive in world history.
>Isn't Britain more successful, from the time nation states started to appear?
Not really, no.
How come they've been playing second fiddle in Europe ever since Germany unified then?
Britain literally never won an european war without allies
France kept fighting alone against powerful coalitions Really not comparable
The only competition for France when it comes to military history are Spain, Russia and maybe Germany (for what they did between 1860 and 1945), but certainly not Britain
But there's a brown girl in the picture, and they're all wearing underwear and all girls.
>France
>Glorious military history
Lmao desu senpai
- Gallic Wars
- Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian. [Or at this time in history, a Roman -ed.]
- Hundred Years War
- Mostly lost, saved at last by female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman." Sainted.
- Italian Wars
- Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians.
- Wars of Religion
- France goes 0-5-4 against the Huguenots
- Thirty Years War
- France is technically not a participant, but manages to get invaded anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other participants started ignoring her.
- War of Revolution
- Tied. Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as chapeaux.
- The Dutch War
- Tied
- War of the Augsburg League/King William's War/French and Indian War
- Lost, but claimed as a tie. Three ties in a row induces deluded Frogophiles the world over to label the period as the height of French military power.
- War of the Spanish Succession
- Lost. The War also gave the French their first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved every since.
- American Revolution
- In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare; "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."
- French Revolution
- Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also French.
- The Napoleonic Wars
- Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!) due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British footwear designer.
- The Franco-Prussian War
- Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.
- World War I
- Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United States [Entering the war late -ed.]. Thousands of French women find out what it's like to not only sleep with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French bloodline.
- World War II
- Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel Song.
- War in Indochina
- Lost. French forces plead sickness; take to bed with the Dien Bien Flu
- Algerian Rebellion
- Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a western army by a Non-Turkic Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule of Muslim Warfare; "We can always beat the French." This rule is identical to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch, Spanish, Vietnamese and Esquimaux.
- War on Terrorism
- France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Attempts to surrender to Vietnamese ambassador fail after he takes refuge in a McDonald's.
France has been a extremely centralized tyranny ever since the 13th century. Considering this, and considering their neighbors were not so centralized, it's actually surprising they didn't conquer the whole of Western Europe like it's eastern equivalent, Muscovy conquered most of Eastern Europe, or how China was unified by Qin Shi Huang.
Not conquering the Low Countries, the Holy Roman Empire and Italy until coming up with mass conscription is just embarassing.
>it's this copy pasta again
>Italian Wars were fought against Italians
>French Revolutionary Wars were fought against other French
Back to 9fag with you
>- Italian Wars
>- Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians.
Italians wars werent against Italians
But that's not even the most retarded one from that pasta
This one is:
>- French Revolution
>- Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also French.
Pic fucking related
Wont bother reading the rest but it's probably bullshit as well
>You know you're disliked when fucking Perfidious "Do NOT Make a Deal With Them" Albion can rally a coalition against you.
lol...sums it up so perfectly, bravo user.
their armies mostly spoke the same(ish) language.
>Austrians trying to talk to Hungarians
>Prussians trying to talk to Poles
>Not conquering the Low Countries, the Holy Roman Empire and Italy until coming up with mass conscription is just embarassing.
n'yes
That fucking war of Spanish Succession.
From the time nation states appear, there's only one occasion of that happening, which is the napoleonic wars
>From the time nation states appear
You mean from the time the French invented the nation-state?
beside the point
France had a very high population with great centralization and a large state. Now let's take a look at their competitors
>Spain
>La Mancha smack in the middle
>Germany
>Totally decentralized
>Britain
>Small population
>Italy
>Also decentralized
>Russia
>far away and subhuman
France was primed to be the number one power. Better question: Why was the French state able to annex all the French minors and be rather successful at creating said state while the German devolved into the
>H
>R
>E
Its something that just happened. What to know why Roman Catholicism dominated Western Europe? 1, because Western Europe spoke Latin so they were insulated from the Greek speaking orthodox and 2, the Franks were the only dynasty to adopt Catholicism, and thanks to the fact that the Franks became the most successful dynasty of Europe at the time that Catholicism over came the other Arian Germans. It was something that just managed to happen.
France was not a nation in the time you are thinking of.
You are confusing "the French King" with the "French nation". They are not the same thing.
>Why was the French state able to annex all the French minors
Along with the "HRE meme" Is a symptom that you are an EU IV historian.
No they're not.
From your uncontrolled autism, I can see you must be the run-of-the-mill armchair historian.
>implying that having allies in a war is somehow a bad thing
When will people stop romanticizing about the whole 'one country taking on the world' bullshit. Sure you might win a few impressive victories but from a grand strategy perspective it's absolutely retarded.
>the amount of black people you kill determines greatness
I want /pol/ to leave
Ban rules need to be stricter here.
i hope you had the decency to hang yoursel after posting this copypasta and if not tell your parent what an error they made giving birth to a shit like you
I often see people calling out France in WW1 for having needed allies to win
Maybe they have biggest expecations for it than they have for Britain (which is indeed logical when you compare their histories).
