No, you can actually reset your auto without it going off if you are stutter stepping while the animation is going off. Lunara had that problem on release, you would have to stand still for over a second because the attack animation was so slow in order for it to go off, that's why they needed to increase her animation speed by 400% so you could actually stutterstep
