I think Zelda and Ilia should have been merged. Zelda and Midna have the dual princesses thing going on and she shouldn't be removed entirely

So am I crazy for thinking that Riju is pretty much the concise version of Zelda's story and character arc

Doesn't Zelda's dialog at the end of TP imply that she was in Midna's body after she saved her?

Not possessing her but at least aware of what was happening while her soul/power was with Midna. Maybe even acting like her conscience a la Jiminy Cricket.

That probably would have meant moving Link's home to Castle Town. I'm not sure that changes a ton in the game, but Nintendo was really attached to the idea of Link being someone from outside the Kingdom as he was in OOT and the old LoZ narrative.

Link was already on his way to Castle town at the beginning of the game to see Zelda, they could have just followed through with that. Then Link would be there when Zant attacked the castle and there would be a reason for him to end up in the dungeons instead of being dragged there for no reason.

What ever happened to the Deku? I was hoping they'd make an appearance in BoTW after encountering the Zora and Goron.

Anybody else let down by the portrayal of the Great Deku Tree in BoTW?

Don't get me wrong, I dig the Korok, can't help but feel they've replaced the Deku though —which is a shame. Also unsure why they went with the line of the Korok evolving from Kokiri —would be nice to still have a tribe of li'l pixie people.

Then we would have been stuck with a "love at first sight" twiterpation motivation. Ilia got a better story, and her memories of years with Link were relevant to breaking the amnesia.

I think they missed a good opportunity by not letting BotW Link be the same Link as TP. Can't you just taste the pathos? Sure, Mipha filled the Ilia role, but it isn't as palpable because we never met Mipha before.

Seems like Riju is the short and sweet version while Zelda's the drawn out and a lot more shown and said than implied

What's your favorite fashion set in the game? I'm having trouble getting the Hylian Hood to go well with anything, which is frustrating because I really like it.

You could just dye it however you want it, or make decisions based on armor features. Champions Tunic would leave you stuck with a blue pallet, but it does have some nice features. If I wanted to stay with just official sets, the Barbarian Armor is probably the obvious useful one.

It's gotta be said, they truly dropped the ball on the most recent rendition of the Deku Tree —not just visually but its voice as well

This is one of my only complaints about the game —that and all the rest of the English voice acting

So last thread I suggested that the 8 heroines might have been some badass Gerudo that founded the town after finding an endless supply of water in the desert and possibly also mastered the art of sand seal surfing, drove the Molduga to the brink of extinction and broke the back of the Electric Lizalfos horde. The 8th heroine ended up going rogue and became shunned.

Any other theories of what they are and/or why the 8th is not with the others

I agree with you on the voice acting. It sounded like a young 20-something attempting to come across as an old man

There's very little in the way of primary material about the heroines, so making theories that aren't pretty much baseless is kind of difficult.

Octoroks replaced them in terms of gameplay, and Rito replaced them in terms of representing wind.

Even at the end of SS she wasn't anywhere near that expressive. If she was your companion during the game she'd still not do any of that.

It's the most forgotten ability in every situation.

3bh both the TP and SS designs are better at being "serious" depictions of Link. WW and BotW Link are both better at being heroic-goofy and ALttP/ALBW is the best older design.

Not that the OoT design is bad, but it's pretty silly and doesn't do anything particularly well except maybe simplicity.

If they gave it sand rod functionality it'd at least have a bit more versatility. Feels so underutilized and underdeveloped.

TP is mostly just a more detailed take on the OoT outfit anyway.
