I lost all of my MMR during placements after a blackout happened during my last game and I basically plummeted from Plat to Silver 1.
I've climbed up to Gold 3 for now, but holy shit are most of my teammates clueless of what they're doing.

Are you playing ranked or unranked? I experienced the majority of this in Quick Match. Quick Match is a cesspool of Darwin award winners. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if QM was designed to do exactly this. Blizzard is a special snowflake company and known for copying ideas from other games to make their own and dumb them down.

But we get Overwatch sprays, emokis and goyim crates. They've also finally figured out that people spend more money when currency is in the form of a point instead of actual currency.

Honestly, why does that work on people? What is it about the human psychology that makes people spend more money when something costs x gems instead of x dollars?

I don't understand why this works. It makes people feel like they're spending less?

Does Kel'Thuzad even do anything? I watched a video of his fight and he has frost bolt, and multi-frost bolt and mana break, which is never going to be in the game.

QM is so retarded these days it's not even the player's fault. So many of my games this week have been lost by minute 0 because it thinks the enemy team should have a tank and healer but ours should have 4 specialists, not even some assassins to try and burst people down.

Blizzard matchmaking is systematically fucking you. It's that it's poorly designed and broken. It's made to find the quickest possible results without actually trying to create a fair match. There's a reason for that too. There isn't nearly as many people playing HOTS as Dota or LoL. Blizzard historically has created the absolute worst matchmaking algorithms of any video game. Look at WC3, SC or World of Warcraft.

Blizzard employees have stated there are pity timers. They just don't say what the cap is.

It does matter because the pity timers work by increasing your drop rate chance for a legendary after every failure.

e.g.
>x% chance to get a legendary on first try
>(x+y)% chance on second try
>(x+y+y)% chance on third try
>repeat until legendary or 100%
>reset to base chance of x% after you get a legendary
It's not "x% chance for a legendary until you hit cap".

So order matters.
BUT loot boxes contents are rolled the moment you get them so when 2.0 hits, it doesn't matter at first because you'll get a large burst of unordered boxes. The order starts mattering again when you start rerolling boxes.

If you're going to do any rerolling, you should probably start with the shitty boxes just to get the failed dice rolls out of the way early so that later boxes have a better chance at proc'ing a legendary.

in hearthstone, pity timers are dependent on the type of pack you open, ie: if you open 39 classic packs, and then open one expansion pack, your timer won't activate on the expansion pack
seeing as how these chests are sorted into their own categories, would this not be the same case?
