Player base construction for dummies:
Step 1: Find a hole.
Step 2: Build silo in the hole and fill the silo.
Step 3: Shield the hole with a skywall shield.
Step 4: Cram as many modules along with at least 1 anti infantry and 1 anti aircraft turret close together.
Step 5: Build hive.
Congratulations to your beautiful base !

PS: Don't forget to use engineer's ai turret which wallhacks through player constructed objects. PPS: Feature, not a bug.

I don't like base construction. It's so fucking exploitable in so many ways by attacker and defender. You don't get any good amount of certs there on either side except for the one time a VP is generated (and even that doesn't make up for all the no certs time) and yet you're forced to go there because of the VP.

They should've used player built bases simply as useful suport somewhere on the battlefield instead of as VP generators. Breaks the game some more and is boring but a must do, imo.

What if we got rid of deploy zones for construction around bases? It would create an incentive for players to actually capture bases. However, in exchange, there would be 30 second capture times. Poorly designed bases will be overwhelmed easily, while decent bases will be shelled and vice versa. It will require more effort instead of mindless foot zergs and redeploy zergs.

For the night hours, to defend against ghost caps, infiltrators would be given the ability to hack command posts to turn them neutral, which would turn into a 15 minute+30 second cap time. This would serve to delay enemy platoons for the active game and give purpose to the kd whoring infiltrators, but also have the added positive for the attacking group of acting as a rally point.

Only balance issue i see would be amp stations and hossin, in which i argue that to put a consturction deploy field around them anyways.

Redeploying would actually have a use to serve as fast action retreat to establish a quick defense against the oncoming zerg. Nanite deploy tool would be default to engineer. Attack Snipers contribute by sniping engies and medic building. Defensive Heavies/las benefit by seeing use as sentires and shit. harraserchans benefit by serving as raiding parties. All attackers benefit by catching a minecraft platoon offguard via blitzkrieg tactics.

Implementing this easily reversible change(getting rid of construction deploy zones for siege bases) would atract more easily FARMABLE tacticfags/planetside 1fags who love the concept of gal drops, ion cannons, orbital strikes and siege bases while giving new players/and low end spec users incentive to actually purchagse stuff to see a tangible reward of being able to desecrate their enemy's base and redecorate. It would give a burst ot the population and redefine planetside 2 as not minecraft of duty 2, but the planetside 1 sequel we deserved with an appropriate modern fps skill ceiling added in the mix.

So here's a thought

Hard cap AI to 100 meters for ground vehicles, maybe 150 for A2G. Seperate vehicles into different variants: AI tank can be killed by 1 C4, is slower and bigger, but can use AI weapons. AV tank requires 4 C4, is faster and smaller, can take no AI weapons (except for the basilisk, which isn't really AI). A2G ESF goes to burning from 1 lock on, has no turbo. A2A ESF has innate auto-flares, resistance to AA, can only use A2A noseguns and AB tanks.

You get the idea. Bam, immediately better concept that the retarded shit on test.

There is no way that thing is hitting Live, even if it's a 0.0001% drop rate.

A heavy with that will never be caught without his overshield on because he never has to turn it off.

Infantry farm issue priority list:
#1 ESF's anti infantry weapons with area effect impact
#2 being outnumbered 2:1 or worse
#3 stupid team (no teamplay, blind, not using spot, no motion spotter, no one uses def turrets even when it'd make sense)
#4 tank / tank turret projectile spam; and of those only those with area effect matter

If they want to make the game better they should make it 2 factions: NC vs TR. Then get rid of the stupid spawn system and allow actual infantry logistics (unit transportation) to become a factor of teamplay. Bases should be partially captureable to start fighting over them from inside them once a part of the base has been taken by the intruders. That way we'd maybe get interesting base design inside bases with actual defense structures and mechanisms or other useful objects that can be hacked or destroyed to serve either side. Because we currently have a game of find-the-spawners-and-destroy-them-before-being-overrun and that's boring, annoying and it doesn't work well.

There also needs to be more in-between the bases that could be of use. Player construction could help if everyone could take part in it right from BR1 and quite frankly it should cost nanites to construct objects, just like in the rest of the game and cortium should be required only for powering a hive but there a lot of it. I'd also like upgrade levels for my structures and a structure based instead of area based module system with plugin modules per structure they should affect so that creating a functional base takes some time and due to upgrade levels leaving one alone too long will cause a strong base to exist in the end.

No wonder there's nothing for tanks to do except for farming infantry if no other tanks show up when the majority of bases exclude vehicle gameplay and there's nothing in-between bases. No supply lines, no player construction for faction support instead of hive VP generation.
