Got a couple questions.

How important is a jungler? Are there any buffs or things like that, or is he a dedicated ganking machine? Do the neutral camps give a bit of gold to the rest of the team as well?

Also, what is the courier and does anyone ever use it? All the gameplay I've seen, early on each team murders the others courier.

because people use gaming as an escape and a hopeful way of making whatever money they can?

jungler depends. you may not have a jungler in favor of stronger lanes, though people will eventually farm the jungle in every game. usually a jungler either farms hard for a particular item like blink, or a key level 6, and then ganks or fights with the team.

the courier (or crow/chicken as many will say) is an essential part of the game. it brings you items so you can stay in lane or walk to other lanes or generally do anything other than walk back to base to get items.
