with big hits, it barely matters because you'll die in 3-4 hits regardless
with small hits, the 5% damage reduction barely matters, the important part is the flat reduction, which you get from any piece

This and Lapp's set are my two favourites yeah. Frog helms are the best desu.

Make sure you don't buy ALL of the dark miracles from her, otherwise she'll sperg the fuck out. Leave at least 1 until you get the rest of her stuff.

casters are possible and viable at low SL, they peak at about 60, after that they slowly get a bit worse, because they can still make use of a few levels in endurance, vigor & attunement.
This peaks at about 80-90, where you get enough att, enough end & enough vgr. Beyond that, you get much worse pretty fast

At 120 it's impossible to make a pure one tree caster and you're left with two options
A caster that uses all trees, with crystal chime
A spellsword that gets 40 in dex or str & uses buffs alongside spells

What went wrong?

I speculated that the profaned flame was a ditched idea but still had some semblence of importance to the main story. It was an abyss flame that granted the society riches, power and knowledge in a Age of Fire and it made the First Flame irrelevant. You can see all the gold and mimics there near Yhorm's arena with burnt corpses and all the jailers are staring at the flame+gold instead of you. The inhabitants there are full of desires, full of want and Yhorm tried to put it out despite his people's protest because they were too indulged in the prosperity the abyss granted and he saw that as heresy. Further proof is that the White faced Preachers also drop Pale Pine Resin, an item you can get when you're at the dungeon. I don't know how the imperfect dragons and preachers are related but for both of them to act similarly and aesthetically similar, I don't think it's a coincidence and the resin has a bit of blood on it might just be their blood resin.
