C is the best language for enginedev.

nth for rust desu

Are ther any engines that are in mips assembly?

best enginedev is noenginedev

t. nogame

your own.

Post progress for Demo Day 14

You rike my sprite?

A Thief game!

sure
Which were?
not exclusive to RS
only the bad ones
uwot
its a foundation skill.
valid.
not exclusive to RS

Literally 1 real complaint of the 8 you mentioned.

That sounded like two valid complaints, agility and prayer.

not liking agility doesnt make it bad.
unless you name something specific like the wonky RNG attached to it.

So when is somebody gonna make a VR suicide simulator?

Itll have to be like Mirror Edge-tier suicides to be worth anything.

>not liking agility doesnt make it bad.
Not liking something is literally the only thing that makes it bad.

short answer: epic
long answer: eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepic

bad is something objective, like the abuse, and reliance of prayer on both sides. Even though it turned in to the original git gud with JAD and prayer flicking.

You forgot safing though, which is probably the biggest flaw that trivialized a lot of bosses before jagex stopped being lazy for a brief second.

RS is a very flawed game, but its leages above WoW and the rest of the Theme Park Group.

once you realize the whole game is clicking on different parts of your screen your argument is invalid.

1. what's bad about it? it's just like any other skill. you click and click and get experience
2. the only one I can think of is the heavy ballista, and I don't agree with that
3. every mmo has this problem. jagex has a moderator dedicated to preventing/banning bots. over a million have been banned since release
4. the only dead minigame is trouble brewing
5. yeah flinching sucks, you're right. safe spotting is alright
6. a lot of the skills are pointless. when the game was made the developers didn't expect anyone to get to 99. nobody is forcing you to fire make
7. prayer allows for interesting pvp/pvm
8. I think you're basing this off of a small sample size

>bad is something objective
Bad is a subjective judgement of quality and always will be.

engadget.com/2016/01/28/i-watched-someone-commit-suicide-in-vr-and-it-freaked-me-out/

>every mmo has this problem
Not a valid defense in a discussion that began with a remark arguing that all MMO's are bad.
>all MMO's are bad
>not this one
>it has a problem inherent to MMO's
>yeah but that doesn't count because all MMO's have that problem
???

I did point out that they have a team member dedicated to negate the effects of bots on the game

I'm also not trying to say runescape has no faults, just some of the points made were silly. It's definitely not everyone's cuppa.

Having a bad quality doesn't make it a bad MMO.
Thats saying a game cant be good unless its literally flawless.

This garbage.

A game can't be good unless its literally flawless.

(Me)

what will be the next undertale

>tfw harddrive is making read/write noises even when it's not being used

it's about to blow isn't it

What's the quickest way to draw tiles in rpgmaker? Is there a way that I can just draw a whole scene over tiles or do I have to piece them together in pixel art?

thief's graphics have aged so poorly, but for some reason I still really like the way it looks

nostalgia I guess

What if you "borrow" assets from AAA titles to make your little game.

I don't intend to charge any money for my game. So how much trouble can I expect? Will they still come after me?

I came to a realization that these threads are seriously 33% autistic perfectionists who genuinely can't help but call you out on most inane shit, but always mean well, 33% cunts who do the same thing as the first group but out of pure jealousy and 33% bored shitposters who may just call it shit or praise it depending on their current mood.
The last 1% is me.

the amount of trouble you will get will most likely be proportional to your game's quality and popularity

so don't expect any trouble at all

(seriously though if your game becomes well-known the worst you'll be likely to see is a DMCA takedown)

DMCA takedown to where? I intend to release it as free a torrent and just collect a little donation money.

But I love it!

are you calling me out on my shit?

kay dude, good luck with that

Usually when people are nitpicking your game it means they can't find bigger issues to complain about, which is a good thing.

To wherever you're hosting it. If it's a torrent, then yeah, there's not much they can do (but if they really wanted I think they could go after you for accepting donations, probably not likely though)

Then I shall launder it through 7000 paypal accounts.

just give it to me

Time to backup your projects off-disk.

gotta go buy some paper and ink

Backups are counter-productive, you have to basically read and write every file twice which halves your HD's life.

Don't backup and you won't need backups at all.

It's only 8k so far. I think I can still handle it.

Too late. I'm killing them all right now.

go to bed

Minor progress: Not worth a webbum, but the game now shows text in place of characters for the majority of buttons on a standard keyboard that don't have nice unicode characters.

>it's a 'blender freezes every 5 minutes while I'm painting textures and I lose all my work' episode

How about you pirate a real program and stop using that shit.

Post you're 3D models

>its an user tries to do 3d work on a toaster then complains its the program mini-movie

so how do you make gamemaker make a game?

just like

open it, load in some assets, type in some code, bam, game

name ONE game

Jackie chan

>tfw want to make a thieflike but it's impossible as a 1MA

I'm not even kidding btw

Its really not.
A gameplay focused, narrativeless title. Thats even mostly in the dark so it makes it even easier.

I'm actually serious btw

Well that's pretty easy, make all of the text narration.

honestly i'd probably prefer that, some of favorite doujins use nothing but narrating dialogue

conversations are boring and shit

Post your favorite doujins

exhentai.org/g/732158/69850c0d52/

>conversations are boring and shit
Only when its """"""""""""""""dirty"""""""""""""""""""" talk.
I still have never played a VN that managed it. Casual conversations while being lewd is GOAT.

That one uno makoto doujin with the sorceress

Why aren't you making a pixelshit platformer parody of something the millennials like like Rick and Morty or whatever Netflix show they circlejerk over nowadays?

Don't you want to be famous?

idea guy here

a multiplayer game where you're a wizard and you use magic to kill other wizards

between battles you sit in your ivory tower and brew mixtures and write scrolls to improve your killing spells

there would also be spells that effect the environment, e.g. a spell that destroys a bridge, killing the wizards on it

you win when you are the only wizard left (death is permanent)

>Don't you want to be famous?
A bit but I don't want to make a game I have absolutely 0 interest in

>one nobody army's pixel platformer
>becoming a hit in 2017
yeah right

I'd unironically buy a Bojack VN if it had the official writers on it.

so like magicka?

forThere was a guy making a quidditch game of sorts, wonder what happened to him.

I'm making a pixelshit story-driven platformer because I have no artistic ability. That said, it has some mechanics that are unique to the genre that make it a lot more than another "pixel guy jumps over spikes" game. Is it still shit? What does an indieshit platformer need to do to differentiate itself from the competition?

Nice Oblivion clone.

Posted last night but I'm finalizing UI and controls right now and then it's ALL GAMEPLAY BABY besides learning networking, trying to find artists for the models + animations, and actually coming up with balanced cards

>gogo is shilling his loli game in /weg/ in a last ditch attempt to get ANY patreon money

Where?
Hes not in either, or does he have his name off?

...

still dont see him mang.

VR MTG WHEN?

its really not

Is it possible to make a game where you fight monsters that you encounter throughout your journey that you can capture to join your team or would people just scream pokemon clone?

I've been working on this off and on for a couple of months its essentially an open world tile based RPG with real time combat. there are monsters you encounter by entering certain regions in the screen for example if you're in region x20,y,50 - x60,y100 monsters will spawn at a rate of 5-10 steps and there's a dice system to decide which monster spawns.

The combat works by assigning abilities that you learn over time to the QWER keys. every move has a cool down anywhere from 0-60 seconds depending on the ability of the move. for example this beam type move that does a flat 600 damage would take 30 seconds to cooldown where as your basic attack which does your strength level * 3 would take 3 seconds to cooldown, the whole abilities system has yet to be worked out.

anyways heres some progress videos let me know what you guys think

You do know Pokemon didn't invent the monster breeder genre, right? They were over a decade late. And there have been plenty of monster games since then, with varying levels of success.

Make it Pokemon but for adults.

As in brutal dogfights where the monsters shred each other to pieces and can get mortaly wounded.

As long you avoid the typical tropes related with Pokemon (colorful worlds, music, monster design etc) you can easily get away with it.

Also what says, monster breeders are much older than Pokemon, Game Freak and the Pokemon Company only managed to market it better.

>As in brutal dogfights where the monsters shred each other to pieces and can get mortaly wounded.
Or just like the Pokemon OVA's.
Not even adults want to watch actual dog fights.

Man you saying real time and QWER made me hope it was like a single player MOBA with poke mechanics. Good design though, especially the video titles.

Soon user. Though it won't have instants (and a very simplified stack), I have 2 mechanics planned to work around that.

Cool

>As in brutal dogfights where the monsters shred each other to pieces and can get mortaly wounded.
Shock value gore only appeals to edgy teenagers. People would much rather play an appealing stylized game.

>he thinks gamedev is a viable career option

...

It really is the most viable creative option right now, there's absolutely no money in stuff like music for example.

>tfw i should have just stayed a normie and on the path to a boring IT job

But nah, pornbux are here to stay.

so the only way to make games is make them weird porn? What if I don't understand those communities and what they like? Could I still rip them off somehow?

This all look okay?

Sure. Most furfag artists hate it too, but the autismbux aren't a joke.

hop tip: make lego porn

I don't like the font, I think it's too thin.

Nice benis in the background.

>dreams of making it as a gamedev
>draws dog dicks until the community moves away from him
>now he's been drawing dog dicks for 5 years
Then surely you could get back on track with that real gamedev career!
