I would compare Plat to around 1500pp in SF4.
Super plat is around 2000pp range and diamond starts the 3000pp range. From there the lines kinda blur bcs the differences are not as big anymore.
Super Diamond is around the 4000pp range though.

anyone below super gold/plat rank looks like someone completely new to fighting games with no idea about the risk/reward concepts and they just simply refuse to adapt, instead they keep dying to the same meaty i do over and over or something similar
its just that sfv gives such insane rewards with very little execution involved that anyone can win, which is why i say that even the dude who is super gold and is doing those sicc 40% ken combos would probably be 1000-1500pp in sf4

my logic was that if the close to 6000 pp players would be considered master, 1/3 of that would probably be plat. It's hard to compare them because of how the system worked, but yeah.

getting high rank in SF4 was fundamentally easier because you could always dodge bad matchups and players much better than you.

theres literally no reason to play ranked in a fighting game when you reach the rank that is considered the mark of a good player
ranked is just full of shit and gimmicks, playing endless will make you a better player
