What's wrong about it? Starsector is one word, so just take the s and put the g for general, done

I like to search generals by their general name, searching /sg/ doesn't even begin to narrow down the threads

there's already an /sg/

Diable shouldn't be too far away

It's taken

i'm sure there is, but we can borrow it until we're dead again

There literally isn't

/sg/ is for Stalker General, there just isn't one up at the moment.
How new are you to Veeky Forums?

post OP info like weapon guides

put mods in OP
put shitty basic guides/faqs in op

What does it matter? No one is going to enter /sg/ in the search field and be upset that there's 2 threads there. If someone is gonna search for the tag anyways.

/wowsg/, /lisg/, /hsg/, /tesg/, /csgog/, /nsunsg/, /ssg/, /ksg/, /vsg/, /rsg/, /hotsg/, /gsg/.
All of these contain sg in their names, ssg is already taken, literally any other name even remotely related to starsector would be better.

>implying anyone ever goes to stalker gens anymore
hownew.ru

what does it mean really when a ship is lowtech, midline or high tech?

It does matter because two generals are not supposed to have the same name. One will get deleted.

They don't have the same name though. Just the same tag

call it /starg/ :DDD

i don't care about /sg/ per se but literally anything other than /stsg/ would be better, unless it's equally as retarded with the inconsistent pseudo acronym

theres no reason for it to be /sg/ and not /stsg/ when /sg/ is taken and hard to search for.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a mod tell us if we could use the same tag as another general?

Unironically supporting this, it's unique.

Those are the rules.

Convenience is more important than satisfying your autism.

>Those are the rules.
Show me

Please respond how do I make more money it's a net-zero game when I do bounties, how do I do AI cores and salvaging and such?
Salvaging gives me a tiny bit of fuel and supplies.

>the start of the thread is just complaining about the tag
>the general won't even be here by next week
nice

Its convenient for other people you fucking autist, if I can look up stsg or any other name even 1 millionth of a second earlier than sg its objectively better.

You go after inner-sector bounties that don't require you to travel 200 light years.

All of them are really far away though. I always choose the closest.

You are aware of the fact that there are two kinds of bounties, right?

>start playing campaign
>get to part where you recover derelicts around tetra
>tetra is literally orbiting so fast I can't actually catch it even with max burn
what the fuck man
I painstakingly waited for it to pass to get into its orbit but I can literally reach one trailing derelict before it speeds away from me again

Lucrative salvaging = abandoned stations and domain probes etc floating around in distant systems. Ignore the debris fields. Recovering damaged ships is not profitable directly (i.e you cannot liquify them profitably though you can obviously use them instead of buying new ships).

AI cores come from the REDACTED enemies in distant systems with warning beacons. The beacons range from yellow (easy) to red (hard). These enemies can be farmed indefinitely and even used to hoard supplies and fuel because they drop so much.

I'm 100% sure this patch will see some major economical rebalancing either by the developer or a mod soon.

System wide faction bounties give garbage money and are only useful if you're completely broke.

Then stop complaining.

Ah I see, thank ye. I just bought the game and started a new game, should I grab a salvager or just stock up on crew and heavy machinery?

How do I downgrade to 0.7.2.a officially? All I can find in the official page is the 0.8 installer

anyone got a valid 8.0 code?

I nominate /secg/!

Get a torrent

Ignore the salvaging rigs for now. Get a mule or a shepherd for salvaging mods.

I'm not him, newfriend.

Is there a trick to finding red warning beacons or do I really have to wander around aimlessly?

> or do I really have to wander around aimlessly?

pretty much

And yeah you need some machinery and a shitload of crew for both surveying and salvaging. Your first goal after getting 2-4 combat frigates (for abandoned station defenses) should be a mule or other small freighter. I assume you already have a tanker. At some point you should be able to combine bounties and/or exploration missions with the other stuff for crazy money.

Combine the search with missions or other profitable activities, obviously youre gonna go broke real quick if you fly around with a whole fleet while making no money.

Why not /starsectorgeneral/?

/srsr/, /srsrg/ ?

kys

>kys
Did you come from /stalkergeneral/?

By salvaging mods do you mean the salvaging gandry mod? It's the only one k can find on the wiki

Wasn't /sfg/ starsector's once?

Salvage rigs are more economical than shepherds because they give +25% to salvage, but are defenceless
Look up on dev's blog

This thread isn't gonna make it through the next 3 days

How are their running costs though?

I think I figured it out. If you give a carrier escort, it will try to attack.

8.1 is coming up in a couple of days

3 supplies/month, exact same as shepherd's.

How in the fuck? Are you carrying 1000000 ore in your 100 sized inv?

Will saves be compatible?

How about fuel costs?

probably yes

How are you sure?

>Yeah, I'm definitely going to tone fighters down a bit in the .1 release. It's pretty clear they're currently OP, but it feels like a few relatively minor adjustments (along with some judicious nerfs of specific fighters) can bring them in line. Combat skills could possibly use a slight buff, as well.

i can feel it
just wait, it'll happen
also my dad works at fractal softworks

Jesus christ, it's in the game...
2 shepherds give you +20% to salvage for 6 supplies/month and 2 fuel/ly
1 salvage rig gives you +25% to salvage for 3 supplies/month and 2 fuel/ly

Coolio, thanks.

I see you talking about yellow and red and yet all my beacons are orange. And I've seen everything from a couple of frigate groups to hordes of carriers and a shielded station in them.

[citation needed]

forgot pic. Not that you can see much.

Left is the error the game gives me after reaching the main menu, right are the mods. I made the java 64 fix too in case that matters, any ideas?
also I couldn´t find GraphicsLib 1.0.4 in the mod page, only 1.1.0, which supports 0.8, I don´t know if that may be it

they don´t show up red in the map icon as fas as I know, only in-game

You literally just said why the game is crashing.

In game they show up grey and only change color when they bleep every so often. In orange, as far as I've seen.

You idiot.

anyone knows a good tutorial about how to create systems/planets?

>25% CPU usage
>20% GPU usage
>sub 40 FPS
Is Java just that bad?

Post system specs. I get constant 60FPS.

Why would the specs matter when only a fraction of them are being used?

The thing that describes Java the best is a quote from one of the Skyrim sex mods. When you're asked to select a sexual position there's an option "fuck me like those Oracle devs".

Have we finally migrated?

Also I just started a new playthrough, without buying anything from markets except for the usual supplies. It's arther fun, you really have to make due with whatever you get. I was ecstatic about fining a sunder with only one d-mod, and now I'm hving fun blasting small shits with my triple mining blaster setup

Migrated? We've been buried. This general wont even be up by Monday.

So forcefully migrated?
Just make a new /v/ thread without calling it a general

Oh shit, thanks
To be fair with myself it does say in the Starsector+ page to use GraphicsLib. still, my bad

>AI cores come from the REDACTED enemies
False. I've recovered many Alpha cores from Domain survey ships and motherships. The defense systems are piss easy to kill too. Although I was pretty disappointed that the mothership exploded after I took out the puny weapon pods. I wanted to salvage it whole, is there a way?

Also, I learned that even if a system has only one planet, it can still have loads of probes, and they will all be in close proximity to each other because the possible orbits (star, planet, jump point, dust rings) are few. I recovered six or seven probes from one such system, all in the range of a single scan.

It's weird that I can use the console to give myself a REDACTED station and all its weapon/shield pods, but can't put them together.

Same thing with this one, user. It looks like its "pods" are hardcoded, and even if you get it, you can't install anything on it.

>false

No, it's entirely true though you could say it's a partial truth. You/he were told to salvage anyway so no damage done.

Note: Survey ships and motherships always seem to have many times longer orbits so they wouldn't be discovered as easily as surveying a planet. Often I only pick them up with a long range scan. HOWEVER, the probes that are found much more easily will tell you if there's a survey- or mothership in the system or nearby, so don't just quickly tap through the salvage process! The message is stored in your fleet reports for a while.

Yeah, there are a couple of issues with modules right now (hopefully they'll get resolved in 0.8.1). That's why Scy hasn't updated yet.

But if you want them you have to add one of the variants to your fleet rather than the bare hull.

Yeah I just figured it out. If you want to stop your Carriers from being suicidal, don't give them any escort. That way they stay way back because I guess they realize they have no protection to go to the front.

Wait, domain-era and REDACTED ships are supposed to be salvagable?

I thought the player could not get them.

Is it just me or the link for Diable Avionics is dead?

There's a mod for that. Stations are never salvageable, I used console.

Huh, it works. Even allows to edit individual hardpoints.

Yeah and it's Syria General

>go to every hegemony military outpost
>all selling onslaughts

I ALREADY HAVE AN ONSLAUGHT I JUST WANT THE BATTLECARRIER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
