Thoughts on a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Automatic with 50k miles?

Thoughts on a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Automatic with 50k miles?

Looking to trade a a 2012 Buick LaCrosse (Base model) with 68k miles

Just trying to ensure I'm making a good decision

The veloster is a terrible car with no redeeming features.

using it just to commute. I like the looks and the price and mpg. Are you saying its not a reliable car or that the performance is sub-par?

its turbo so you have turbo maintenance. recommended rebuild at 50-100k, shorter oil intervals... NA would be better for a commuter.

Both. It's literally a rolling turd on wheels

Get a proper inspection. Don't rely on the dealer. Hyundais have a tendency to be previously owned by legitimately mechanically uninclined people who probably only done one or two oil changes at the least in 40,000 miles. Get another car to save yourself the risk

Also mandatory

>buying a Hyundai with an auto trans

>Veloster

To really put how much shit pre owned Hyundais are:

You'd have a better chance of getting more reliability by purchasing an early 2000s GM car with 150k miles and less issues than getting a pre owned Hyundai shit box owned by a woman. Don't buy that car user.

Dont listen to these naysayers OP. Hyundai is a lot more reliable now than they were 10 years ago. They're more reliable than Honda and Mazda on the average.

I have the turbo variant, and I love it. Its a fine economy car.

>They're more reliable than Honda

Have a 2016. Got it 2mos ago new, last one on the lot. Put 6k miles on it already. It's a fun car, no matter what anyone says.

I've heard the 2013s are to be avoided though. Less reliable than 2014+ models powertrain-wise, but that's no surprise as it applies to every car.

just get thi- oh...

why did suzuki fuck off america again?

Because Americans prefer Velosters and Elantras over some 3rd-tier Jap brand.

Expect a car so slow you'll piss off every driver around you. I like Hyundai but the Veloster (non-turbo) is a piece of absolute shit.

why would get rid of a comfy and fairly reliable gm car for a korean piece of shit? especially and automatic one that isn't turbo.

OP Here

Other options in my range and mileage preferences include:
Cruze
Fiesta
Corolla
Fit
Mazda 3

Basically give or take 10k, under 70k miles, with upwards of 35mpg hwy

Mazda 3. The Cruze and Fiesta are both pieces of dogshit.

Get the Fit.

I'll keep that in mind when searching thank you. I already know the corolla is a great car. I liked the Mazda 3's as well.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR CURRENT CAR?

seconding the mazda3
cruz is okay, but the fiesta has DCT issues.

I want better mpg

it's not worth it. mid 20s mpg should be perfectly adequate.

H A I R D R E S S E R

So pretty much i cant do better than what i have now in terms of reliability and mpg?

Get the Veloster or Mazda if you want fun.
Get the Fit if you want mpg and reliability.

Literally avoid everything else.

Get a mazda3, it's a fantastic economy car.

op dont believe any of these neets. no reasoning at all for their claims and have no first hand experience.

Sure you could do better but these econoboxes trade mpg for features and quality. especially used ones for 10k. New ones might get better mpg and features but then you're paying more and it'd take forever to break even on the mpg savings.

I like to refer to this model as the Molester. It amuses me.

You will save *maybe* $200 per year (if you drive 12k miles) by switching to any of those cars. It will take you ten years to make back $2000 spent on a new car.

please don't waste actual money on this worthless korean trash

please

I bought the buick cash and im going to buy whatever else cash. So im not worried about payments. I want to go farther on each tank fill up.

Drive more efficiently and make sure the tires are at the right psi. Slow down to the speed limit.

Do not buy this shit unless you know for fact you get a warranty, people say the 10yr/100k is only for original owner

they drive like shit and their doors are stupid.

get the fit or the mazda3

Im not getting the veloster now that is final. Basically what mid 2000's to 2014 car is reliable and gets good mpg? I dont have to buy from a dealer necessarily.

post your local craigslist

Get the fuck off my board you pansy faggot.

This isn't hard. Get a Corolla and call it a day. It's all your faggoty ass can handle.
