The skill doesn't start to make money until you train to level 80 with salamanders if you do it right, even then the grind to 80 isn't that bad compared to other skills like agility. After 80 the skill is a joke and you'd have to put in some real effort to manage to die to a shitty chin pker.

Agility is pretty much a complete joke now with rooftops. It was mind numbing and worthless when your options were the Ape Atoll course for months or getting griefed a the wilderness course, but rooftops just make the skill mildly tedious and makes you at least some money

You're comparing the skill that is 2.5x faster to train and gives 5x the money per hour to agility and saying agility is a joke. Black chins aren't intensive, and if you want to be really lazy you can do reds. Even the tick methods for setting down box traps are much easier that tick methods for other skills.
