Buick

Opinions on Buick vehicles? I'm thinking about specifically purchasing a Buick Century with low miles from the early 2000's.

endlessly reliable, but not all that exciting.

Incredible reliability. Cheap as fuck parts. Comfy sofa on the highway. Geriatric drive feeling.

I'm looking for reliability. I drove one before and It was smooth as shit.

Literally trash tier.

GM has never made a good car.

That is one sweeping generalization

>Buick Century with low miles from the early 2000's

the thought of this makes me so hard, pls preserve one of these dependsmobiles so i can gawp at it in 5 years time

More reliable than 99% of foreign shitboxes you'll see on the streets today

I have a hard time remembering the difference between the Century, Park Avenue, Regal and LeSabre, probably because they were all sold at the same time, have the same FF V6 configuration, look very similar and are all apparently nonexistent in any color other than Nondescript Silver.

They're not bad, though.

Coolant elbow pipe
Lower Intake manifold gasket
Drain that mf dexcool

Otherwise super reliable and not aa slow as you'd think looking at it

Regal is a better equipped century
Park Avenue is a better equipped LeSabre

3800 series II supercharged swap with bolt ons

would make an awesome grandpamobile sleeper

But you get those comfy Buick seats

The Century and the Regal are virtually identical. The Regal got a larger 3.8L engine and a center console.
Above the Regal was the LeSabre.
And above that was the Park Avenue.
The Century was the base model

I love mine. Best all around DD ive ever owned.

I was so pissed when my girlfriend traded hers in for a mazda6. Comfiest highway cruiser I've ever driven.

Ok my parents bought a 2001 (i think) buick park avenue and it is fucked. We replaced the fuel pump and checked the battery terminals and everything and it just dies all the time and we can't figure it out.

Check the
>fuel filter
>spark plugs
>spark plug wires
>ignition coils
>ignition control module
>alternator

You'll likely find the problem somewhere around there. My bet is the ignition control module or the alternator.

>and are all apparently nonexistent in any color than Nondescript Silver
I had a green one once

>Geriatric drive feeling

The only people I see driving those are niggers or heroin users. Neither of which I would ever want to be associated with.

sometimes nigger heroin users

Buy it. I recently bought my first car, a cheap mazda, to learn stick and all I want for my next car is a 2000s Buick for that sweet, smooth driving feel.

another shitbox on the W-platform

3.1l self destructing V6
famous self destructing 4l60E
low/no resale value

common issues
-rust in rockers
-cabin air filter box leaks water
-cracks/paint flakes falling off bumpers
-flimsy ass rear suspension that bends and eats tires and wont stay aligned

I got fed up dumping money into mine, took it to an SCAA FWD rally and lost to a corolla wagon, then convinced some fucktard it was worth a trade on a nissan truck.

Go buy a civic/accord/camry/corolla if you want a boring family sedan

>Go buy a civic/accord/camry/corolla if you want a boring family sedan
Or he could buy a Century for half the price

They're actually extremely comfy and reliable OP.

Go right ahead but inspect it first.

>W body
>4l60e

Opinion discarded

>grandpa had clean as fuck 98 Park Avenue Ultra
>he died last May
>didn't want to ask for his car because I thought it would be rude
>they have it to my retarded cousin who promptly flipped it a month later

I want to slap a bitch

3800 II engines last forever. Replace what said and keep up basic maintenance and you'll have heavy diesel tier reliability.

>dependsmobile
fucking kek

Century's don't have the 3800. That's the Regal.
Century's have the 3100. and they're known to be just as reliable.

Very reliable, my only complaint is that they (at least my LeSabre) cant turn worth shit so it makes U-turns a nightmare

I had a 2001 Century about a year ago with 100k km on it.

it was as comfy as a couch, i had a front bench seat so no clutter in the middle, minimalist dashboard and gages made it feel huge inside, big thin steering wheel was great.

get one OP.

biggest problem was I was looking at $2k in repairs for all my brakes + lots of rust underneath

:.(

Do you live on the coast? or a snowy area?

Bench seats are trash
