Building a FWD Rally Car ?

Building a FWD Rally Car ?

I have 10,000$ ready for a FWD or AWD Car.

The car will be modified to be rally/track ready.

Do you guys have any suggestion on a unique car that would be a good start.

Rwd

Get one with the inline 5 ACTUAL GROUP B ENGINE.

celica alltrac

Make sure you get a car that has direct injection

no its ok i dont want to die

interested any prices also is it available in canada

>I have 10,000$ ready for a FWD or AWD Car.
And your actual budget for the car after necessary safety equipment and basic rally prep is... $5000? Less? In Canada?

Get a Neon and shut the fuck up.

But Neon's do not have direct injection

the price of the car alone is 10000$
mods are extra

neon
ZX2
Probe
MX6
Sentra SE-R
Civic
Corolla

neon would be my goto pick

worse than fwd in the application

Pretty sure north America at the very least got the sedan version, the 80/90. Full-time AWD (on quattro versions, obviously), inline 5 engine directly from Group B, which can make ridiculous amounts of power in properly built turbo form, and should be possible to find for a couple thousand, max.

Watch out for understeer though, they're very nose-heavy with a cast iron straight-5 hanging out ahead of the front axle and all that.

Buy one someone already got rally compliant. Cheapest, most effective option.

An Abarth 500.

>fuckloads of aftermarket, including rally applications
>exceptionally tuneable engine
>nimble

>smaller than a Miata
>STILL somehow manages to be heavier
>Fiat reliability

>diesel FUCKING fiat

You know what's smaller than a miata and manages to be heavier?
Your mom.

>being this mad

dude that cars black smoke dont look good... also its not the gravel bcs its only coming on one side

Sure hope this is bait.

no its not explain ?

not entirely related but
>tfw northern californiafag
>rally is pretty much non-existent up here
>even if i could get into rally, 99% of the iconic rally cars weren't sold here
i could go the historic route and grab an mgb gt though, that would be cool as hell

Uh. It's a diesel. Black smoke in that case is a byproduct of large amounts of diesel being injected and some not being fully burnt.

my bad didnt know it was diesel...

This pls

No good, doesn't ahve direct injection.

>$10,000 awd rally car
Outback Sport or WRX, it's not unique but it's pretty easy

its pretty gay. no thx for the vape car wrx

I bet you won't be saying that after I leave you behind in a big cloud of vape and tyre smoke.

These and

>Celica
>Yaris/Echo
>Fit
>Metro
>Saturn Ion/S-series

Just get a older Volvo, like a 242 or something

>celica
its shit unless gt4 which he cant afford

ae111

Nah, the fwd celica's are alright

they are slow as fuck

That's an easy fix, there's multiple ways to make it faster for pretty cheap, switching the 5SFE head for a head from a 3SGE is the quickest way since they share the same kind of engine block; the S block

/thread
306 maxi would be sick also

cheap and plenty of parts available, definitely not unique though.

3SGE FWD Celicas are bretty gud.

If FWD then Focus or Golf
If AWD then Idk... Eclipse GSX?

Audi TT is cheap and plentiful but probably not much good for rally.

>Audi TT is cheap and plentiful but probably not much good for rally.
It's on the same platform as the Golf, so it can make use of the same aftermarket support.

Mazda 3 hatch would be your best bet

Here's one. iirc, you can tell it's the 225hp version if it has the dual exit exhaust.

RWD is easier than FWD
RWD is more forgiving that FWD but also slower a lot and don't teach you anything good

...

get a 3k civic and be done with it

2WD rally classes tend to be dominated by FWD, until you get into high power levels where FWD starts to struggle.

thats what i am saying FWD is way faster but harder and will prepare for the next steps while RWD is slow and easier but fun

Civic + 3k on mods.

Civic + 7k on new engine and mods

Q U A T T R O

>ITT faglord benchracers thinking that cars magically mean you'll get a good spot on leaderboard
just get whatever piece of shit you find like a 3k civic or geo metro.
It literally doesn't matter.
spend 10k on geniunine ex rally car wrx sti or 1k on some corolla.
It don't matter.
You'll lose to some geo metro by 2 minutes anyway.

Boxy S10 truck. 200hp, 2500lbs, strong enough to handle the abuse of rally.

Alternatively a fwd Suzuki. Cheap, light and no rice tax like a Toyota or Honda. The poointheloo's know what's up when it comes to ghetto rallying.

>200hp, 2500lbs

this is insanely optimistic for an s10

a 4.3l makes less than 200hp in the S10; and a first gen single-cab shortbed weighs like 2800-3000lb

195hp if you get a 92+ with the vortec and ~2800lbs... excuuuse me. Either way you're getting the power to weight ratio of a modern 86 for $500.
