I'd probably go with Legionnaire Axe for my current armor. There's a lot of neat looking, flashier axes though that would be fun to build a set around, like Godskull or the fractal skin.

Usually no. You will get booted from WvW squads, and considered a leech a lot of the time if you use a longbow. It's really only viable in 1v1 fights, and only has specific benefits that outweight all other classes in raids and fractals if you have Druid specialization through HoT. Get it only once you already have a decent assortment of classes first.
