After vanilla you should do expansions too. Imp side for Hutt Cartel is great while pubs are meh. Shadow of Revan starts strongly but dwindles quickly. KotFE and ET took away everything that made vanilla great.

You access the expansions' lead-in stories from the console on your ship.

After your class story there's the Vanilla epilogue on Ilum, then it's Makeb, then Shadow of Revan.

I also started playing The Old Republic as well.

Do you recommend doing the vanila class main stories first and then go into the expansions?

There's some callbacks in the expansions that are spoilers for the stories. Honestly I'd just play one class through all the content then go back for the vanilla storylines of the others.

Mission console on your ship tells what expansion it is.

There are some mentions to your class story in them so you should play them first and then decide who you want to take through the expansions. I think inquisitor and warrior fit them the best.

Flashpoints (that's dungeons in every other MMO) can be done with 4 DPS, it's just easier if you have a tank, healer and two DPS.
