Toyota has started to make more fun vehicles again, like the FRS and the intro of TRD Pro versions for some trucks. Too bad they killed the FJ, but the FT-4X looks like a promising alternative (all things considered).
Not sure about Renault because it's a faggot Europoor brand, but it's also French so it's safe to assume the cars are fucking shit like everything else the French attempt.

In terms of ease of maintenance, Westies probably beat it for oil changes. But I know the Delicas were based off of work trucks, which speaks to their build quality. Not sure about the VWs. My cousin has a 1973 VW camper van and it was unreliable as fuck. Plus it was air-cooled, so it would always overheat.
