Other than allocating more memory for the game to use, there isn't much you can do.

Playable droneships mod when? :(

What's the refresh rate for ships in shops?

>spend fuckloads of supplies surveying planets
>cash returned doesn't even cover the cost of supplies
What's the point?

Already out, you retarded nigger.

Mount surveying equipment on your support vessels/bring Shepards
They make scanning planets cheaper
Also sell data logs on askonia or other high stability market

About 2 and half weeks ago, if this is what you mean
fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=11833.new

>fuckloads of supplies
First of all, use ships with survey equipment like shepherd, apogee, and venture. They decrease supply cost down to a minimum of 5. Second, combine surveying with salvaging/derelict missions.

I can never have enough shepherds in my fleet, they're so difficult to find.

jiust get a bunch of surveying buffalos

Buy 2-3 salvage rigs so you can salvage Domain probes/ships and derelicts while exploring. You'll often find Terran and Water planets in hostile systems. Or get the Neutrino Detector and go full sperg. Shepherd is less efficient than Salvage Rigs in supply/fuel usage.

But it can also carry fuel and supplies and help fighting as needed.

>so you can salvage Domain probes/ships and derelicts while exploring.

Wait, you can salvage them without taking on salvage ranks so long as you have enough salvage%?

Do not fucking survey or salvage

Money is endless, skill points are not.

In the end you'll be swimming in dosh but with nine or more points wasted on industry

No.

Do not fucking combat skills.

Officers are 12, money is endless, skill points are not.

In the end you'll be swimming in dosh but with nine or more points wasted on combat.

survey is garbage at the moment though.

Who cares I have 96 level max.

I warned you fucks about Neutrino

is that the level that gives you enough skill points to max everything?

I just use console mod to give myself 99 skill points so I can max everything at the start. :^)

>passing through a nebula
>suddenly a big red circle appears out of nowhere right next to me
pssh...

I just changed my config to max out at lvl 100.

max level 65 is patrician

Enjoy having 4 unspent points.

so I should change it to 96 then?

Leveling after 40 is super hard if you're not mass murdering hegemony fleets. 60-80 is usually enough to have fun.

I've noticed. I've been levelling up steadily because I'm fighting big remnant fleets / battlestations and the pirate / hegemony revenge fleets that come after me.

65 gets you 4/4/4/3 which is more than enough

>There's no getting used to the key combination you press to go up the screen changing several times every few seconds.
Do you have a video example of the issue, I have no idea what you are talking about.

>go to a [REDACTED] system
>find a debris field with a large quantity of harvested organs
heh

>not taking max salvage for those sweet sweet derelicts and fancy ships

Get a load of this bounty hunting pleb. Survey isn't worth the effort though usually.

Salvage doesn't help you find any more ships though, it's only for looting stations.

Chance of ship recovery is another skill.

We are talking about the literal "Salvaging" skill.

If you grab +salvage bonuses, you might as well invest in better repairs and recovery.

You daft idiot

Yes

where do astrals spawn? i went to a tri-tach home system and fragged a bunch of apogees and auroras but no astrals showed up

only time i ever saw one in combat it blew up and was not recoverable :\

noob here
why max cap and not vents?
its because you want big buffer/max flux and not flux disipation? is better to just have more flux than having better disipation overall?

Depends on the strength of the shield. For strong shields, capacity is better. For weak shields, dissipation is better.

well, antimatter blasters and lances have a high flux drain and long cd so having a high flux ceiling encourages the AI to get stuck in and blow shit up

Why is dissipation better for weak shields?
Don't most things add hard flux?

Generally I get vents to compensate for weapon fire

Because the weak strength of the shield will greatly devalue the points you spend on capacitors. Of course it's a good idea to get some, but you should prioritize vents instead.

except you're literally wrong because vents add a certain amount of shield per second, which is valued more if the ship has a better shield efficiency than a worse one

generally vents are the better option, because of sustained deeps is based on flux over time
you only want a high flux cap involving things that arent over time

So is there a mod that lets you start your own faction and go about conquering worlds and settling new ones? And also makes the AI factions try to take each others worlds too. Game gets kinda boring after days of just blowing shit up with no actual goal other than building a fancier fleet to blow more shit up with.

randomly, its mostly pre generated when you start the game.
i found one by following clues when salvaging, the message told me there was a derelict elsewhere and i went there and it turned out to be an astral. it could have been anything of course, its luck

nexelerin (not updated yet)

Wrong.
Vents for sustained fighting.
Capacitors for bursting, disengage and vent.

if you're not enemies with tri-jews they can offer bounties on deserters that may have astrals

the shield strength is the shield flux / damage I assume.
as:
Sunder // shield flux / damage: 1.2
every 1 dmg you recive, it generates 1.2 flux on your shield
Medusa // shield flux / damage: 0.6
every 1 dmg you recive, it generates 0.6 flux on your shield

and Im also assuming, by just watching the codex, than
strong shield: anything 0.8 or less
regular shield: from 0.8 to 1
weak shield: anything 1.0 or more

I wish we had a good wiki ;_;

wheres the diable HQ where i can buy their shit?

Good thing Neutrino ships almost all have 0.3 :^)

why are sparks so OP? they just delete everything in seconds

Blance is shit! SHIIIIIIIT!

>super sanic snowballs with shields and two burst PD lasers and 5 fighters per wing
gee why

From the mod creator.
>Note: Due to a bug in Starsector, no Nexerelin update will be possible until SS 0.8.1.
>mfw

Welcome to like 3 weeks+ ago.

i like that the sparks are as strong as they are

they just happen to cost one third as many OP as they should

30 days from the last time you looked at the market but sometimes nothing gets replaced. If you want the market to give you a different class of ship on the next refresh, then buy a ship from that class to open a slot for a new one.

capacity is quite situational, generally you want about one third as many capacitors as you have vents or less for low tech ships, and about half as much or more for high tech ships. there are some gimmick full-on capacity builds for burst damage builds that can afford the long time to reset flux afterwards, but in general, not having enough dissipation severely cripples your ship, while not having enough cap merely limits how long you can stay in a direct slugfest for.

there is the second consideration of wanting to make sure your loadout is as close to flux neutral as possible, the most powerful ships in ai hands will always be ones that can fire without building their own soft flux, as this both encourages the ai to be aggressive and leaves wiggle room for incoming damage

>find orbital station
>walk away with harvested organs

They were braindead officer, i swear!

not editing the save file to give yourself enough points to max every skill at lvl 40. Scrub.

Im using Talon and Claw on my shitty Drover, but because I dont know shit about the game.

but from EVE, fast drones are always great, so thats why I use these. also, Broadsword heavy figthers looks great to me too.

I try to check this: starsector.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Fighter
to compare all types and make my own opinion but ofc looks incomplete as fuck, not well sorted, etc.

fucking shit wiki for god sake

someone post fighter guide

FIGHTER GUIDE FOR LAZY RETARDS

S TIER: TALON, SPARK
OTHER TIERS: THE REST WHO GIVES A SHIT

hth

oh thanks, I find it

dumping more help for newbies like me

...

no its
godly OP broken tier: sparks
damn good tier: talons
generally useful tier: everything not listed here
shit tier: warthogs, piranhas, mining pods
i think its bugged tier: xyphos

what part of WHO GIVES A SHIT did you not understand?

piranhas are okay when massed, but so is everything else

Xyphos arent bugged they just cant attack enemy ships, only escort your own.

xyphos can only orbit your ships and shoot their ion beams with 1200 range

it says on the description that they can protect other ships as well?
not sure if they meant it

You can target a friendly ship with R and they will escort it.

>alpha damage
>fast
>five
>drones
>omni shield

What the fuck do I do as a Conquest fighting an Onslaught with augmented thrusters being gone now? Unstable injector isn't enough alone.

Vanilla capitals are now like this: Paragon > Onslaught > Conquest

You use your superior range and stay away. You just need the right fit. Hold on, let me see if I have a screenshot.

oh ok thats neat
but usually they just hang back and do nothing even when the ship they are helping is in combat

The TPC on the Onslaught outranges anything that isn't heavy energy e.g. Tachyon Beam.

RATE MY FLEET FAGGOTS
(1st time ever playing the game)

>Sunder
autopulse, antimatter x2, vulcan x3
so mod, hs mod, 5 cap 20 vents
>Medusa
autopulse x2 atm (I want to get phase lancer + antimatter)
so mod, hs mod, max cap I can
>Drover
Talon x2, sabot srm x4
so mod, hs mod
>Shepard, Wayfarer, Dram
for fuel, cargo and survey/salvaging shit

Im just trying to do some bounties, and survey/slavage whatever I found. I will start grinding some reputations with Independants like some user told me for the weapon market

>the case of the Mayorate (using my own example since I know how that one works haha), the game calls onNewGame() upon starting a new game in MayorateModPlugin- this method calls another method (initMayorate()) that creates a new instance of mayorateGen. Inside mayorateGen, faction relationships are set, then it creates a new instance of ilk_RashtGen that generates the Mayorate home system.

taking this as an example, I could theoretically make a single generator file to generate and set the relationship for multiple factions and add multiple systems

how far am I off the mark?

>sunder
>medusa
>drover

Too high tech with no cruiser flagship

>Sunder
>high tech
??????

you get a high armor ship rushing towards you and you are done for
find yourself something to tank with

Sunder is high tech

It has THREE energy points.

You need to soak up TPCs with your shield, everything else will not shoot that far (except integrated targeting unit + gauss cannon maybe, but you'll still get the range advantage because your guns are mounted closer to the edge of the ship). Bonus points for 2 Ion Beams that will disable the onslaught's weapons really fast if you line up in a way that would allow you to attack its unshielded rear hemisphere. You can defeat the onslaught with default fit 1v1 without using any officers or skills (in the mission simulator, for example), but you can't do that on a default conquest. I think I did it with HVDs + hephaestus cannons + ion beams, I'll test it and tell you how. With officers and custom fit vs custom fit everything goes. But then you'll probably have your fleet backing you up.

>Sunder antimatter
That may work on pirates, but one Medusa will do you in. Sunders rely on range to stay out of trouble.

Pick up some mules, they are probably the best survey/cargo/crew bolstering type of ships. Put Safety Override & Unstable Injector on to them and watch them run away from EVERYTHING if you ever get beaten in combat. You can also fit survey equipment on them too.

Very handy ship.

If you want ez low-level bounties, refit your sunder with 3 phase lances. They will disintegrate pirate frigates instantly.

>Hammer-class Torpedo
>a missile weapon
>loaded with two dumb-fire rockets
aAAAAAAAAAAA

babbies first energy ships, but they do the job dont they
>needing a tank
are we playing the same game? you can dance around big ships with small ones.
he can get more carriers or even a missile cruiser and still kill everything

you can dance around big ships with small ones

the sunder can dance around jack shit

a beam fitted eagle and a support will rekt your shield and that's goodbye sunder.

you won't even't get glose to capitals

"hullId": "sunder",
"hullName": "Sunder",
"style": "MIDLINE",

also fukken 1.2 shields

>3 phase lances

That's a hilarious way to tell him he should just use a drover with full harpoons and expanded missile racks

I think you can take the neutrino descriptions csv and reformat the text to make it sound less retarded
