So just spent the last few minutes looking at time attack times.
Time attack car outputs vary from 600hp to 1500hp and yet the times between this 900hp power gap are extremely close. Is there a point where power is meaningless on a circuit racer like pic related?
HP is meaningless when it can't be put to the ground

You donĀ“t need much power to be fast if you can keep your speed in the corners.
As you can see on your picture, they tend to have downforce and weight reduction autismo. A better downforce/weight ratio allows you to corner faster. A smaller engine weights less, so it allows your car to corner faster.

There are way too many variables in a time attack for horsepower to be a deciding factor

Love the variety

exactly this
tires only have so much longitudinal/lateral grip. once that grip is exceeded, you're wasting power or time
Gavin Roberts
800hp seems to be the sweet spot

This.
Seriously OP. You cant be this retarded.
Next you are gonna tell me that big diesel trucks are going 300 kmh because they have over 700 hp?

Buddy of mine has a C5 Corvette Z06 with a few mods. He took it to a track day.
An old civic was there. It looked ratty, but it had a swap, great brakes, meaty tires, awesome suspension, and stripped interior with a roll cage. Pretty much built for track days.
The civic beats the shit out of his corvette. I was kind of shocked, actually, but it made sense. The civic was just setup right.

The heaviest time attack cars aren't that far off from the lightest

im making 248 horsepower to the FRONT WHEELS because thats the only place the power should ever be.

This thing has 300 hp and could whoop the ass of whatever over powered pieces of garbage Veeky Forums managed to put together.
Yeah, even the one fag with the Gallardo. Yes, even the one fag with the Ferrari 599 GTO.
Its all about suspension setups, confidence in your tyres and predictable handling. And light weight.

I know it's a pasta but it never fails to amaze me
>250 hp with turbo and a built engine That should be at least 350 hp
Jack Jones
gotta keep that fuel ratio lean to get 70 MPG while doing 9 seconds in the dragstrip, yo!
Cameron Robinson
The original instance of that pasta said "348 horsepower". Not sure why it went down to 248.
