mercy can't follow a charging rein or get into the middle of combat whereas ana can shoot/nade from a distance
at higher ranks people will kill 2-3 priority targets then kill the mercy or otherwise position themselves so that she can't sneak in and res
she is useless in dive comps or versus dive comps
at higher ranks she is only used for pharmercy

on defense you basically want ana and mercy, depending on your comp
ana and lucio is strong on attack or lucio and zen for dive comps
zen is also strong when paired with ana but his poor mobility make him a weak pick on certain maps

Could be a combination of this. Flankers get much more deadly and she doesn't have the tools of Ana to deal with them. Higher up people have better mechanical skills so Ana players can have a big impact on a match in ways other than healing. Pharah's pick rate also starts to drop which usually means Mercy's will as well.

When is soldier getting one of his abilities removed? For a dps, that is consistently a top pick/must pick, he has far to much utility. He shouldn't be able to sprint and heal and have rockets.

Her in flight speed is pretty slow, and the higher rank players can pluck her out of the air, taking a bite out of her superior mobility. Lucio, the other mobile support, offers mobility to everyone in addition to dancing on every flat surface that isn't the ceiling.

She has more sustain than Zen, but her damage contribution options are drastically inferior. Discording the right targets + throwing your balls around > Blue Beaming and praying the DPS gets the right targets + using her peashooter.

Her kit is simple and effective but loses its luster to more versatile supports at higher levels of play.
