The kanji in Ann's name can be read several different ways. Including Ann, Anzu, Momo, and a whole bunch of others. People speculated and got attached to certain readings. Like people who still spell it Anne.

Her Japanese name is 杏. This is the word apricot in Japanese, and is pronounced Anzu. Japanese names are open to a lot of creativity, so her parents must've picked it and chosen to have it read as Ann instead, probably because it sounds western.
