are the OP pastebin's still up to date?
anything I need to know to not be shit?
is the spotting mechanic documented anywhere? (apparently firing your weapons makes everyone able to see you, but didn't work like that previously?)
are the ships more interesting once I get down the tech tree? the UI doesn't really tell me much to differentiate the ships and they all feel pretty same-y

>molotov
>best t6

>French BB line still not released

wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:View_Range_&_Camouflage

>CA and CLs still not split
>RM still not in the game

Pastebins are mostly good. Unless someone changed them to the Kancolle/Counterstrike ones again

If playing BBs, don't go in straight lines and change speed/direction often

When you fire your guns, there will be like 10-20 seconds where the enemy can see you if they are within range

Each countries trees have their own quirks, best to read the pastebin to find out what you might be most interested in. Just get the Russian ships, they're probably the best right now

*switches teams behind you*

>are the ships more interesting once I get down the tech tree?
Yes, they get better.
Just tell what line are you interested in and anons will tell you about it.

pssh, nothing personnel

I can't wait to sink Kaga.

>T8 and T7 CV in one battle
user, WG removed double high tier CV in one battle almost a year ago.

2v2 CVs.

*hugs u*

A moment of silence for this illiterate user.

there are no 2v2 CVs at t8

F

I just had a game with Independence and Saipan Vs 2 Shoukakus.

Proofs?

Do you have proof for this outrageous claim?

RJ, Hiryuu. Sorry.

>Carriers were more and more relevant as the war went on
>less carriers in higher tiers
I just don't understand. If anything, there should be only one pair allowed until high tiers.

Can you stop being a whore?
No one here will fuck you anyway.

>make a game about playing with warships
>increasingly revolves around planes as the tiers go on
How to kill high tier gameplay.

>implying high tier gameplay is alive

>make a game about warships
>place it in the era when ships with guns became irrelevant

*snipes your "carrier" with 406mm railguns*

nothin personnel kiddo

It was the era where surface ships were at their peak. Big ships with lots of big guns, the rise before the fall.

And then everything changed when everyone realized how much more efficient and useful planes were than capital ships.

Reminder that Yamato only shot down ten (10) planes at Ten-Go.

Anyone who honestly thinks an armored artillery barge was anything more than a waste of resources after the Battle of the Coral Sea is kidding themselves.

>capital ships.
Carriers are capital ships.
There's a reason every tank, plane, and ship game takes place during WWII. It was a huge jump in technology. World War I or before would be boring as shit, just look at the WWI ships in the game.
Post WWII would be missiles and long ranges. WWII is the sweet spot.

And anyone that thinks a game where most players are just escorts to the two people that actually get to play is a good idea are kidding themselves. Battleships, cruisers, and destroyers make for a fun game. Reality of naval warfare has nothing to do with it.

The problem was Japan was going for the same military style as Germany. Quality above Quantity. So while the US was pumping out dozens of planes a day and pilots a week, Japan was only doing a third of that. So by the end of the war they had carriers but no planes or pilots. There was nothing they could do but throw battleships at the US.

That's why RTS carriers were a mistake from the start. They never should have been included.

>A6Ms in 1945

Is this a shitpost?

I never said they were, I said that at that that was their goal, not the reality.

Sure is a weekend

fun first match

thanks, russian destroyers look fun, love me some big dakka

Most ships were sunk by planes or subs, rarely ship to ship combat because that shit was horrifying. Imagine getting hit by shells that size, how many crew members would die after each hit. Bismarck already got her shit kicked in. That would be scary as hell to be aboard.
Battleships were used for artillery ground targets. Look at any landing, battleships spotted from the sea. Destroyers and Cruisers were support which is why most because AA ships towards the end of the war.

If WoWS was real, all the ships would sail in formation while the CV got all the kills and go on for days. CVs don't have a spot in a game like this.

Well, I'd like to think with time carriers can be made into an interesting alternative way to play the game. I still have some remaining hope that WG can pull off a miracle and come up with a solution that makes most players happy. Carriers are here to stay no matter how much folks might regret their inclusion.

>CVs don't have a spot in a game like this.
Yes, that is what I said right here

>love me some big dakka
You misspelled USN heavy cruisers/RN cruisers.

Problem being that Carriers right now are extremely binary to play. You either get a great game or you get shafted and MM decides that all you will face today are USN ships with fully specced AA. My hope is that they find a good balance and basically cull AA to an acceptable level. Getting uptiered in a CV is the greatest bullshit ever and you won't be able to do jack shit.

Also for a significant part of the USN CV line you either get fighters only or you get fucked.

Don't forget another binary in carrier gameplay
Unless you are superunicum yourself, if you meet said superunicum you will suck more dicks than Bisco, while being able to do little in return

It comes down to "who can deal with the bullshit of the UI and the RNG more than the other" and less "who is a super unicums". The times my UI decided to fuck up a strafe or a torpedo run... By now I would've chewed through my keyboard. Don't even get me started on the multiple levels of RNG you have to suffer through. At least with BBs you only gotta pray for good dispersion but at least you will always be able to hit a guy. Fighter strafing is the greatest fucking mystery since the creation of the universe. Sometimes you can strafe all of the planes, sometimes you just get one. It's the inconsistency that pisses me off to no end. Theres hardly any skill to it either than lining up a strafe, the rest being a dice roll.

Another big problem is the AA aura system. You can't tell the AA auras that are overlapping and you have to guesstimate if your planes could deal with it or not. It's the general lack of information and ability to counter play that makes CVs the most frustrating class to play.

By the end of the war they were using Shiden and ki-84 which could outfight your average hellcat, just not in big enough numbers to matter at this point.

>land based planes can generally outperform carrier-based planes
Wow!

>sortie my freshly new Aoba with my captain transferred over from taco
>forget the Priority Target skill is deactivated during retraining
>whole enemy team end up shooting at me when I think they're busy elsewhere
>die like a bitch

Okay I deserved that one.

When in Taco and Aoba, never relax. Always think you're getting shot at, and move that camera around like a madman.

Or just take PT as if you're not a shitter

>welcome to tonight's episode of USS Midway, featuring special guests, enemy A division of Hakuryu and double Des Moines

Alaska when?
What tier do you think she would fit?

ded

I wish my internet wasn't shit so I could actually play. I tried a co-op battle to test things out and I had input lag of up to 2 seconds.

I reinstalled WoT.

Mistake.

Same tier as the Kongo maybe a bit lower.

>Going back to WoT
If you're tired of suckling on WG's teet, why would you go to the other one?

looks as a heavy cruiser

what's is it i don't even

it's so you can indicate directions relative to your ship, to other ships nearby, such as which direction the enemy is in

but they surely can see the enemy themselves?

not always, especially if it's a picket ship on the edge of the fleet that's spotted something far away from itself

i mean if they are that close that they can see the disk with numbers...

>It's called a range clock. Its purpose was to display the range to the target/enemy ships, so that other ships in the squadron would know the range. Bearing of the bad guys was provided by deflection marks/vertical lines on the ships' turrets. The clock itself was trainable. The idea was... one ship in formation (prob line astern) might have a better/first view of enemy formation... get a bearing and range... and by displaying range on clock, others could concentrate fire on the enemy. After better radios came along - not to mention radar - they weren't so useful, and were on the way out when USN entered the war.

do you know what a telescope is bud

how about you aim that thing at the horizon to see the enemies

and when the enemies are over the horizon?

double-telescope

Simply displaying AA auras for everyone would not be a bad idea, just like smoke screen borders.

a chain of dds each looking at the disk on the mast of the nearby one all the way to the actual spotter. it can extend the horizon by n times where n is the number of dds

sounds as an amazing idea!

No

so you no praise me?

Was the Massachusetts supposed to be the public version of Alabama?

Battleship differences are much more interesting than Cruiser differences

I wish WG would put in a Battle Ranking system like WarThunder. A stock ship is completely different than a fully upgraded ship. Getting thrown into +2 MM is bullshit and WG's reasoning of being "more of a challenge" is just an excuse so they don't admit that no one plays this game and they're terrible at making it.

I died in my stock ship and I'm sad :(

ABCV is a mental illness.

the best part of ducky.png

Red pill me on Steel Ocean

Why don't you try it out for yourself?

Just rebought the Mogami. IFHE, DM or neither?

Both but only with the 155s

They wanted to include them given their significant historical role and the large number of ships of historical significance with were CVs, but the imbalance is certainly hard to deal with.

Or when it reselects autopilot and suddenly you find out that you are sailing right down the middle of the map. The economy is some bullshit too.

I want to cuddle with you!

yamato was a waste of resources for sure, but its anti-air was just fine. If yamato had been one of the ships in the US Navy, it would have been vastly celebrated as we had the economy to surround a battleship with dozens and dozens of anti-aircraft cruisers and destroyers. Aircraft could not efficiently get through that and when they did, not in the numbers necessary to sink the ship.

It took 8 aircraft carriers and 380 airplanes over an hour to sink Yamato, which had zero defenders on the sea and zero in the air.

Take the world's best aircraft carrier, now attack it with 8 aircraft carriers and 380 aircraft.
Oh hey, it sinks. Like anything vastly numbered! The world's best aircraft carrier wouldn't even last one hour like the Yamato did. Oh my gosh, aircraft carriers are totally obsolete!

You Fucking Tard Potato.

The games modes are better. Especially night battle when playing SS or DD.

>but its anti-air was just fine
the 10 she shot down was a generous number given japanese AA.
>It took 8 aircraft carriers and 380 airplanes over an hour to sink Yamato
One hundred of those were fighters. some 15-30 went after her escorts. So it took 250 planes to sink Yamato.
But the point is that Yamato couldn't even get close to the US fleet. Battleships are useless against a carrier fleet without it having its own carriers.

Besides, the only time Yamato was in range of a US fleet she and her large fleet of escorts were scared off by 7 Destroyers.

>Besides, the only time Yamato was in range of a US fleet she and her large fleet of escorts were scared off by 7 Destroyers.
yamato fags btfo

Hotel_A_QT's mom here.

Please stop mocking Yamato (the battleship), he is now crying in his bed because of /wowsg/'s mean words.

>30 aircraft

Sasuga

>youtu.be/qIhnh0EEl1E
History Channel makes it sound like the Japanese had a chance. But Yamato was sent to her death knowingly.

>about to go ham on an arkansas beta firing pure HE
>this happens
Fucking goddamn it

Why were you alone surrounded by enemy ships?

There was that AB and a dugainy troy, i think i would have been fine. Especially since i was about to delete the AB.

>Especially since i was about to delete the AB.
kek

O-ok...

>25mm

No, it was a piece of trash compared to the Bofors.
