It's not at all like something he would create. The tone and message are very different. That doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't have enjoyed it.

I think a lot of the basic structure could match the original, specifically the neutral route. Human enters strange world, sees strange things, and escapes with their life and new world view-changing knowledge and nothing else to show for it. That's standard Lovecraft structure. True pacifist doesn't work because it ends with a major change to the outside world, genocide doesn't work because it has a major change to the hidden world. Lovecraft stories are more about the revelation of weird things than a real change to the world. It's about a change in knowledge, a change in perspective.
The monsters need to be changed, but they don't have to be made evil and edgy. Lovecraft's monsters are always terrifying, but they're not always evil. Some of them are terrifyingly strange without being overly malicious, and some of them operate on a level that's so far above humanity that they're amoral, not evil. The first one is the best option here. Tweaking them only a little might be enough. I'm not sure yet.
