its not broken from a mmr point of view, people abandoning is an issue regarding low priority/smurfing/how easy it is to make new accs/buy accs and all that.
just imagine if you had an incentive to get someone on your team to abandon, it would SAVE YOU MMR!

Also I'm not saying completely remove any mmr loss, that'd be stupid, but it has to take that into account when it decides the mmr changes. Good or bad you don't deserve to lose full credit because someone on your team has a toaster for a computer, or even better, when it's the valve servers just being shit and kicking someone as they are prone to do.

yeah but thats on valve, most of the time if the servers are funky you dont lose mmr, but they cant build the system around the assumption that their servers are faulty and their systems wont be able to detect it.
thing is, all in all, no one will be worse off mmr wise because of people abandoning, be it intentiontal or unintentional, unless they themselves somehow make their teammates abandon more often than average (le only constant meme, 4 potential abandoners on your team 5 potential blabla you've heard this one). I can see your point in that its very tilting to lose mmr in the short term because of this, god knows I was mad when I lost my 5'k 3 times in a row over the course of a week due to someone abandoning, but I also won matches because enemies tilted/their house got swept in a flood.
