second for octopus

*SNIIIIIIIIIFF*
Aaah... new thread smell.

xth for some particles

You know that pattern of tones you hear in spooky movies, the one that sounds like its constantly dropping in pitch? This is the visual equivalent of that. It looks like the base of the fire is constantly sinking but never actually changes position.

Senpai hows the sleeping idle animation and sound? I changed the bubble to blue instead of green like you wanted.

nth for not being cucked by unity

There is a more than one way to program a one specific game. How can we know which way is a good way?

i cannot wait for monster girl gamu!

Selected unit will show moveable tiles and attackable tiles now.
This also works for ranged units that attack from 2 squares away.

God C#/Monogame is annoying. Am I supposed to build all of my sub classes and methods within the main game class?

I tried to create a player class in a separate .cs file and it was impossible to get anything to work because of class visibility issues. I know with C++ you can just use 'include class' then just call it. Is there something similar with C#?

>using a framework
It's like you want to suffer.

How does that mermaid put on those panties?

So long as it works, it doesn't matter.

What would you suggest m8?

>I tried to create a player class in a separate .cs file and it was impossible to get anything to work because of class visibility issues.
l2using&scope

Libraries.

very carefully

Serious question for you /agdg/, if challenge = fun, then why are there so many fat people in the world?

Wouldn't they lose the weight because challenge = fun? Do they not comprehend that challenge = fun? Are they properly grasping this concept?

Are these the same plebs who hate dark souls? That doesn't make sense because I'm sure there are fat people who play dark souls. So what the fuck is wrong with them?

Exercise isn't fun or challenging, it's utterly boring and painful.

Most people have no discipline and live miserable lives.

It has nothing to do with agdg or game development.

Fuck off.

>you can try too!

>challenge = fun
false premise

Don't really know my end game is with this, but got health, projectiles and a physics vehicle in.

>Is there something similar with C#?
using whatewer;

I think you're onto something here. It's maybe the fact that the particles are clipping into the ground plane and that makes it look weird. I'll see what I can do.

Veeky Forums go home you're drunk we make video games here

I guess
I used to dabble with SDL2 but I like monogame because I don't have to set up all the basic stuff like the window or content pipeline. Maybe I should go back to C++ with SFML

Weight is genetic.

Im thinking its the squares that are rotated 45 degrees. It looks the same regardless of whether theyre descending through the floor, or actually just shrinking, so my brain picked the former.

Challenge is fun for people who like being challenged.

Not everyone does. Some people would like to do nothing more than cruise through life relaxing without ever lifting a finger and feeling adrenaline rush through their veins.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. We all turn to dust the same way, do what you enjoy in your limited time.

I'll give it a go. Thanks!

your post is cringe.

What's a good way to add some tension in turn based games without resorting to randomness?

Music

Something like this: youtube.com/watch?v=GXFSK0ogeg4

If you need reference for monster jam

Some progress on my procedurally generated cities. Can't wait to finish it up and put my actual assets in.

Looks good

timers
>BIG DUDE IS CHARGING SUPER MEGA ULTRA ATTACK
>3 TURNS LEFT

Pretty much this The reason I don't really exercise is because it is boring. I'd rather spend that time doing something else.

Challenge in games is different. It is exciting and it doesn't require a lot of physical effort at least not when compared to exercise. Of course not all people enjoy challenge in games or rather they're so casual that they get challenged by what the more experienced gamer sees as casual effort.

Turn based like a roguelike or an instanced RPG fight?

running is both fun and challenging, especially if you run behind a qt with a fat donk

card games

But aren't these people sabotaging their own experiences by sticking to their comfort zone? They won't even realize what they don't have because they refuse to give it a try.

When I was a kid it just seemed plain contradictory to think that work/effort/struggle/difficulty = fun. Then I got older and I suddenly understood.

When you say not everyone enjoys challenge is there something wrong with their brain to not understand how struggle & reward works? Should I think of them as idiots? Or just people who like different things. I need to talk to a casual to understand how their brain works.

Thanks for the reference.
I need to design some kaiju that wont get me sued for looking too much like Godzilla and friends

both are good ideas, thanks

>3.5 times more monster girls than monsters
Good priorities

ahaha dude monster jam :)
what are sum eyedeas for monster jam?
i can't wait for some losers to make me new fap material!

You know you're allowed to continue working on your main project instead of shitposting about a jam that you don't care about.
You DO have a game, don't you?

Howd you accomplish the ring pattern? care to share?

>a one specific game

Thats oddly specific. I'd say that when it comes to programming. whichever way you understand and can easily alter without much overhead in regards to how it affects other areas of your code, is the good way.

jamposting is shitposting though, that user is probably tired of it.
Just do a ctrl+f "monster jam idea" on the past 10 threads to see what I mean.

i'd guess a two step process of spawning the particles on the edges of an oval, then also spawning a few particles within the shape too.

Reminds me of that Sub Rosa game that was going around /v/ like five years ago.

Replying to shitposting is shitposting.

Sure, but posting monster references isn't shitposting. The guy is just trying to rile up shitposting for no reason. He could work on his game instead of caring so much about people posting about monster jam.

There's always that one idiot against jams.

And that idiot doesn't have a game obviously.

Thanks for shitposting!

I'm against jams because they take time away from my main project.

I don't care about jams.

>tfw everyone downloads your game but no one says anything

this is so demoralizing

jams are my main project.

No problem!
See

No they don't. You can choose to work on your main project instead of joining a jam

What game?

I have to take part in jams, though. My mom makes me.

better than people becoming so irritated with your shitgame they start cussing you off in the comments section
at this level "any attention is good attention" rule doesn't work

Thanks for sharing your refs

Is there any demand for a low-gameplay game? Like a fighting game without combat, or a shmup without projectiles, or a VN without other characters.

Walking simulators

no

I made it so that it's as if someone is telling a story. Thoughts?

The interface for choosing conversation options looks annoying and tedious.

>it's running on fucking notepad

Otherwise it looks like a very interesting concept.

I want to FUCK [name]'s mother

Hmm, maybe I should put the boxes on the left, so that they are always in the same place. And then you can simply move your cursor up and down.

porn games, most players just want to sit and fap

I FELL FOR IT. FUCKING CHINKS GOT MY GAME FILES

Good enough for now. Time to go back and make more assets.

epic tabs xd
kill yourself

Is there a quick way to check if a point is actually reachable in Unreal? Im pretty sure the AI trying to get to a point thats impossible is why these intermittent crashes keep happening.

>no gay sex WITH HATS ON
0/10

I had to ask REDDIT for help because /g/ fags are fucking useless, RETARD

>words at the end of the line suddenly jump to the next line
Pre-wrap your text you fucking troglodyte

I haven't used Unreal, but usually if you try to find a path and there's no way to reach it the path will be empty. Maybe check that the path isn't empty first before trying to move the AI?
Also what does the error report say when the game crashes? It should tell you what's wrong.

answers.unrealengine.com/questions/351857/check-if-actor-is-reachable.html?

"unreal point reachable" in google

Not him, but how would this be done?

>shmup without projectiles

There's a Touhou game kind of like this. Wouldn't mind seeing another.
youtube.com/watch?v=R4z2HEjF-as

It still has projectiles, you're just not the one shooting them.

It depends on how you're printing text. If you control the word wrap algorithm, just run it on the text you're about to print before you start to print it. Easy.

If you're using some built-in widget: Every time you insert a space, save the current text, try inserting the entire word after the space, and set some flag if it caused the line to wrap. Then you change it back to the saved text, and if the flag is set, insert a linebreak instead of a space. Non-whitespace characters can just be appended as usual.

Except you are because you can't stop talking about it.

What's the best way to make my game easy to translate and localize?

Use an engine that supports translation.

Suggestions?

Where did Dear Esther touch you?

no

Are you suggesting it isn't a low gameplay game?
