They are at like 50-50 likeliness of producing it. The recent $1.6 Billion deal with Toyota has them hanging down a bit.

From all the rumors ive seen it looks like they are still working on it in high secrecy. Apparently they will use the nd platform for it. Seems like their best bet is to use the recent hybrid tech their gonna get from toyota mixed with their the rotary engine their building.

With all the other Jap car makers bringing back 90's Godzilla-mobiles I can't imagine Mazda not wanting to follow suit especially with the success of the FD
