the fuckhueg dreadnoughts in the game the all have giant spinal phaser / disruptor / plasma lances built into their superstructure larger than every escort ship put together somehow do NOT have 'heavy weapons' and are left with a clickable ability instead (the equivalent stats of a white 'common' mk XI weapon in a game where 'epic' quality mk XIV is the max)

there are now (incredibly stupidly rare 300 'keys' priced) tier 6 original series constitutions and flingon d7's available after a recent RnD pack promotion sale event that 'rewarded' buyers with a (really really pathetic .25 % chance) chance to win a t6 original series ship

you also now have the FUN FUN task of gearing up to mark 14 epic 'gold' quality gear.
there are also a whole buncha story missions you can replay for free actually usefull mark 12 gear now that you're 60. and of course extra grinding those reps after you get the gear you actually want in order to space barbie dress up

( since you need to make all three peices of reputation ground set in order to unlock it in the costume tailor as 'wearable' outfit)

the ship gameplay is freaking sweet, for a game built out of the Champions online engine.

you can go anywhere on a scale from swift agile and (not actually so fragile since they keep buffing it) escorts to majestic sweeping big ponderous unkillable floating cities super cruisers and dreadnoughts

you can run cannon builds, beam builds, heck, even torpedo builds.

basically any flavour of trek you saw on TV / film you can duplicate for yourself in STO

I'm currently trolling all the pve content and reputations with a beam array build that features the ''zen'' store wide angle quantum torpedo (regent class assault cruiser refit) and the new missions kentari missile launcher on my atlas, since i'm using the iconian reputations set that gives me bonuses for flying at full impulse (100 % throttle) and i just swoop past and around everything

weapons have arcs of fire, so there's the widest 270 degree beam arrays, down to 45 degree dual heavy cannon

you can have exactly ONE 360 degree crafted beam on your ass. and ONE reward 360 too.
on your front you can choose to mount up to ONE [WIDE] DHC for a 90 degree cannon

it depends on how turny your ship is. ships also feature an 'inertia' stat that determines how easy it is to speed up or slow your ship down, with tiny escorts being the zippiest turniest ships and fatass huge dreadnoughts being the slowest most unwieldy

actually it's not a trinity MMO

engineers are good at power levels, but can be built instead to also be great at healing, or dps, or debuffs you are NOT 'the tank' as an engineer

tacticals are great for dps, but you can also build for tanking, CC, or buffing you're not 'the thief' unless you want to be.

scis are great at CC, heals but you can totally build out for massive nuke aoe dmg if you want too. so you can be 'the healer' or 'the mage' but you can also be tanky as fuck if you want. and their CC makes their 'the mage' status closer to a conventional role 'mage' instead of the usual mmo ' NUKE AOE' ''mage''

Okay this has real spaceship movement, right? Not just submarine in space like Fractured Space

beams are an entirely valid playstyle. your ship has a 'defence' value based on skills equipment, but most importantly your SPEED that hard counters enemy accuracy stats so flying in a cruiser at full impulse is a totally legit strat.

i purposefully built my atlas out for beams for when i can't be assed fucking about with narrow fire arcs. that's why i have the wide quants etc. TWO 360 degree beams on the ass, two 180 degree launchers on the front and the rest are 270 degree beams

it has a 2d plane with plenty of 'up' and 'down' above and below the plane of the ecliptic of the map. you're only limted by a 45 degree incline to 'climbing' and 'diving'

unfortunately the potatoes that infest any mmo were too stupid for fully free movement and crap tek had to limit it to avoid confusing the retards too hard.

you'll still be able to do kickass 'dive out of the sun' attacks on targets coming in from atop them if you want. or below.

shields have four facings so it is advantageous to keep hitting one facing to avoid having to take down ALL the targets shields.

think starfleet command games except you can also go 'up' and 'down' a large amount on the map

well, there's no need to really grind any of them, since you can just do the daily. for the bonus and move on to a different reputation.

it's really only if you WANT to grind one out. and even then reputations have a 1 hour mission that is really only to make reward boxes, and a 20 hr big reputation point reward mission, so it's also kinda an anti grind.

the only reason to actually grind a rep, instead of just doing one daily and moving on, is if you want to make that reputations gear.

yeah if you're not strong enough to blow someone up instantly it's pretty hard to kill 1v1 so pvp is more of a group thing. Accretians are master race but bellatos are winning too hard that it becomes a huge bother to do anything in the other races, also wanted to play a rider for a long time now.

While the Gem Event is just shit, the Dr. Moreau Event is actually good. The avatar event is up to whether you actually like the avatars or not, at least it's nice that the SMALL TEAM finally realized that they should include avatar sets even if said sets aren't for the newer classes that barely anyone plays like Demonic Lancer.
