you do realize that even if they let him live he'll go to prison for life, right?

1. Get Merciless difficulty
2. Remove the stupid 3x damage bonus from your crits (enemies still get it)
3. Enemies have their default level but start scaling to your level if you're much higher than them (you still get the same EXP)
4. Give enemies smarter AI so they either always target your weaknesses or blast your ass with Megidolaon if you're resistant to everything

The problem with turn based RPGs is that if a fight is too difficult it could actually be mathematically impossible to win given the turn order and certain damage outcomes. People would just end up grinding for the fights anyway.
