Good level design and metroid like exploration with fun combat. It has a nice crafting system and cutting pieces of off is satisfying. Not worth the full price but its miles better than Lords of the Fallen and worth a pirate. It has no denuvo.

The japanese seem to agree that straightswords are absolute cancer.

Their tierlist is something like:

Kats are still good. Even as an excellent turtle weapon, they can apply pressure through chip damage with their long ass running attack and have good chasedown power. Hold is a great mixup tool and having a parry while twohanding a weapon is always good, specially the kat parry that makes it so you take less damage while active.

Katanas, like straightswords, are pretty versatile weapons.

They don't really have any bad matchups and they absolutely wreck certain classes of weapons (ultras).

That is not wrong at all. In fact, Dark SS Turtle might be the single best build in the game right now.
It can work. Kats have higher range while 1Handed and BKSh is BKSh, really bullshit just for existing. However, I'm not sure if you can combo. I'll do some tests.

It Combos better than two handed actually. The delay between the attacks is shorter making it more consistent.
