born to kill ayyliens.

Redpill me on the new patch

So far it's a bit less stealth based which is nice.

>idle suppression crashes the game

What a fucking cock tease.

Aight, playing XCOM2 on Normal, played Enemy Unknown and Within, but still need to git gud. What do?

loli mods when

use more grenadiers and psi ops

Alright Xgents. Which alliteration of muton is your favorite & why. Following that what mixture would be the perfect muton?

I mean in general, I feel like I keep getting my dudes killed and I fall behind on the geoscape/basebuilding/researching. What do I prioritize?

Bureau is perfect as it is a mixture of OldCom and EU. X2 is just a dickhead.

X2 muton. I just wish the armor was a little heavier.

What do we know about LW1 pod counts? I don't see any specifics on the wiki.

I've been recording early abductions, lights are always 3 pods, mediums are always 4. Interestingly, the couple heavy abductions I got were also 4, no difference from medium.

X2 is probably my favourite, but The Bureau's gets a nod for being a great blending of x-com og's and XCOM 1's Muton styles.

That's defined in XGStrategyAI class at the XComStrategyGame.upk.

Early game:
Light: 7-9 aliens, 3 pods
Moderate: 10-12 aliens, 3-4 pods
Heavy: 12-14 aliens, 3-4 pods
Swarming: 14-16 aliens, 4 pods

Where it gets iffy is alien resources and research level factors into this, so past the first month you're basically on your own trying to figure this out, since it will change from one campaign to the next. For example at alien resource past 180, 0-3 aliens are added to abductions but not reflected in the difficulty, so you can get 12 alien light missions despite that normally making them moderate.

Also this tells you absolutely nothing about the quality of the units in the pods. You can have sectopods and mectoids show up on a light mission just fine.

I'm entirely concerned with the pod count since sometimes I assume I'm fighting the last pod and get screwed over when it turns out I was wrong. Thanks, I'll count it as 3 pods easy 4 everything else.

Give X2's muton the Bureau's armor and it's perfect. Not a fan of football myself.

x2 Centurions and Champions blow every other muton out of the water. Though giving them a little more armor would be glorious.

>get a rank 2 spainard as a reward for scanning
>take him on a mission
>he levels up and gets a nickname
>Wait.. I heard that word somewhere before
>search it on Urban

I'm dying, holy hell.

...

>2 health
why.jpg

Because of this dumb swarming+++ mission on april 10th.

Took me 3h or so in real time.

Man PCS's aren't nearly as cool as Gene mods. Not to mention the one-per soldier limit. Does anyone know how to increase the amount of PCS's you can equip on a soldier so i can actually make some use out of hyper reactive pupils or iron skin. Instead of a flat bonus that beats them outright?

>we still get swarming supply raids

How was it? It doesn't look like that many more aliens than previous supply raids, was the command pod really bad?

I like how X2's muton calls back to the sleek skin-suit type armor of OG muton.

It was one normal muton, one viper and the rest troopers (rocketeers, lancers etc). Its the 10th april after all.

The muton got stunned by an overwatch bolt caster shot and the viper (+3 troopers) died on a heroic flamethrower attack which the technical only survived by one hp.

Was pretty nerve-wrecking since I play Bronzeman and doing the whole mission after 3h playtime again was nauseating.

Bureau. X2 reminds me of a Krogan too much

Bureau ones look good, it's a shame they're in such a garbage game

fuck, can't unsee.

>tfw no good fps co-op xcom to just slay ayy with friends

>>EXALT in the OP

Time for some MEC in this thread.

daxamite's invasion mod when?

supergirl sjw squad can go to hell

I like the Muton Elite armor from the Bureau

That head reminds me of a manga. Can't remember which one at the moment.

There was a mod in EW that let you toy with the Operatives/SHIV sizes.

I don't recall that helmet being in a mod?

Best Muton coming through.

Xcom2 is my favorite because it looks more like an alien, Bureau looks like Bane on a bad day, EU is Football, and original is a weird purple monkey man.

Second place would go to the purple monkey man though, just because it's weird.

>I play Bronzeman
I wish the pod locations would be randomized or something when you restart.

Absolute best muton coming through.

Based Cpnbubs, too bad he died.

...

Idle Suppression is pretty fucking awesome when it actually works

youtube.com/watch?v=Fgyy88h4c8E

Yes, this one is the best.

Does it not work with mod weapons? What do I need to do to enable them?

No. The bodybuilder in a skintight suit is not the best muton

It's better than the clumsy hunchback with big head and small legs.
Also that face.

Just finished vanilla enemy unknown and lost 2 nights of sleep, thinking about which direction to go next:
>Xcom2
>Enemy within
>Go straight to The Long War

Any ideas? All 3 sounds pretty hip.

Tranquil moments

New to Xcom 2, what facilites should I build first? What research?

GTS, Alien Biotech.

nice

Long War

one part I don't understand is the way the game is structured
the main menu and the whole idea of the 'build-your-base and do research" thing makes it seem like it's mean to be started and finished in one sitting like civ, but that won't be done by anyone who isn't trying to do so

I don't like it because it looks too human.

I know this might be a bit odd to realize, but they aren't actually canon. They're mod-exclusive.

Why would you play vanilla EU with EW?

Guerilla Tactics School, 2 Flashbangs, and 1 Medkit
Alien Biotech then Modular Weapons
without* EW

Doesn't mean it isn't cool as fuck

It's actually a bad idea to put motion trackers on soldiers with more than 13 mob or so. It makes it very easy to blue move into an undetected pod.

Go for at least one run of EW. Get the general feeling of MELD/Psy and then, if you want a step up in the challenge, go for the Long War.

I don't follow your logic there

someone call Councilor Troy, this mofos got PTSD

this game is meant to be repeated many times, but I can't see why anyone would do that, it's a story not an arena

you're talking to nothing but people that sit there replaying xcom games

I don't think nu-XCOM is meant to be replayable. EU/EW especially took a very cinematic approach, a lot of things that are cool at first run are very unbalanced if you're more intimately familiar with the game. X2 less so, but X2 is also built more sandboxy.

im sure they are fine

Can someone steal that faggots code for the muscle man meshes and make it for females too. the mod has the src files so it is there.

He's doing sit ups

???

> EU/EW especially took a very cinematic approach, a lot of things that are cool at first run are very unbalanced if you're more intimately familiar with the game. X2 less so, but X2 is also built more sandboxy.
Ironically enough, XCOM1, while seemingly less repayable than X2 on the surface, is much more repayable.
That's because the core replay-ability of xcom comes from the gameplay, with story/plot/characters simply serving as context and a way to let the player know where they are in the campaign.
The gameplay of XCOM 2 (ignoring mods) has much less diversity than the gameplay of XCOM 1. This is a combination of Turn timers forcing most missions to play out the same (regardless of how you feel like approaching it) and the fact that behind the scenes, alien pods are clamped on how many pods can engage you at a time, and are always anchored to your squads position. Combine this with X2's much more retarded and predictable AI, concealment (adds to the sameyness of engagements), and then even X2's features touted to add replayability (such as procedurally generate maps) get over-shadowed.
XCOM 1 has less predictable AI, let's you complete the majority of missions according to your current preferences/pace/mood, and the pod system and activations allow for engagements to have more variety as well.
X2 was designed to carefully crafted to guarantee a satisfying experience for the player always (working behind the scenes), especially their first campaign, resolving some players complaints from X1 (unlucky or unskilled activations squad-wiping them), but in the process, undermines the gameplay for those who are in it for the long haul.
Fortunately X2 has mod support, so a lot of this doesn't apply unless you stick to vanilla.

What!?

I was going to say that there were no signs of life from him since january but apparently he did report recently on his mod's comments.

Oh shit you made me nervous for a minute there man.

>xcom2 modders keep dying
>they tried to fix jake's game
>he "fixed" their life

That'll teach them to go against the will of Solomon.

Oh thank goodness i thought he did die.

i read that post and also thought he died

don't say that without meaning it, people actually die sometimes. use your words

>don't say that without meaning it, people actually die sometimes. use your words
Yeah.
There one modder who literally died, so it's not entirely unlikely to happen. I actually believed capnbubs was dead for a minute there.

...

When the f u c c is this game going on sale? I want it but don't have $60 to throw.

I have never regretted buying anything from Jake.

...

>drone spots me during their turn
>gets to make an attack
>5 crit with the disorientation ray
>kills my squadie

that's xcom, baby!

Wait for Summer Sale.

The glowy eyes mod, together with the dark nights mod really is condensed sex.

Wait until you see how fire looks with darker nights.

Fuck xcom then

>look outside
>seems like summer to me
When do Summer Sales usually happen?

Best Guess:
>Between June 22 and July 5

Well shit.

Thanks for telling me; now that I'm making a little more money I'm trying to reform my black-flag ways but it's hard.

"Yo, what the fuck? Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep this place tidy without you people showing up to light shit on fire? I have an inspection first thing in the morning!"

>I'm trying to reform my black-flag ways but it's hard.
Just pirate it now, get your vanilla playthroughs out of the way + we have a Mega mod link in the OP (so not up to date, but mods yo), and then pick it up during the summer sale. Unless you already pirated it, then make sure to check the mod section in the OP. And you can request mods as well, and someone might upload them.

>Just pirate it now, get your vanilla playthroughs out of the way + we have a Mega mod link in the OP (so not up to date, but mods yo), and then pick it up during the summer sale.
Yeah, that's the plan - that's how I got that screenshot after all.

I was trying to finagle with mods but couldn't hack it. And I like the game enough that I was planning to buy it anyway. $60 is still pretty hefty for a game that's been out this long.

>And you can request mods as well, and someone might upload them.
there's a ruskie site that mirrors everything on the workshop so there's no need to do that

>I was trying to finagle with mods but couldn't hack it
This should be super easy, you should be able to do it. What have you tried so far?

Well then link that shit nigga

>What have you tried so far?
Tried using the alt mod launcher but it kept asking me to start steam first; was able to finagle some things so that it thought steam was working, but then mods would get all weird inside the launcher itself (duplicating each other, not showing the sample images, etc.) and wouldn't even work in the actual game.

This will be your squad for today's mission, user.

>those nips

It's like they're wearing power armoured jabroni outfits
