Homecoming used to be Elf's only good board clear and now they have none. Harvest Festival used to be one of the best draw sources in the game and now it's shit. They've killed cards before and changed how a class plays and they can do it again. Dragon can cost reduce stuff with Wyvern Cavalier too so Zell would still be usable at 3 cost.

Bone Chimera without Catacomb's support will be crap. What part of sticky board you don't get? The scary point about Shadow is that removing their board still leaves 4 skeletons for 12 damage

Just pull a grail but not sure whether to use it or not in my aegis deck.

3 counters seem too long when you could just use Aegis in end game.
Plus I already have 3 dark jeanne when does the exact same 2 damage AOE.

Because they know whether they've won or lost based on your opener. Unless they're running one of a few specific decks there's no way to recover from 1-2-catacomb.

Catacombs allows for the t1 goblin/skull beast, t2 2/2 and t3 catacombs which gives you a completely unfair advantage if not countered, which is hard that early into the game. Obviously this won't happen that often but when it does it gives you an easy win. In other cases, it's just another Bone Chimera, which the deck appreciates. Sometimes, it gets you 5 skeletons and 5 shadows.

It's a low risk high reward card that steals wins. Shadow doesn't need it to win, but it makes the deck a lot more consistent.
