Battery corrosion shit

looks like salt

Looks like cobalt chromium aluminate oxide. Kinda like battery corrosion shit.

That's chrysotile asbestos. What low-end brakes did you buy, OP? Throw that shit away.

Some garbage off ebay because I needed new rotors + pads.
They are better than my old ones at stopping but they overheat fast as fuck and get all smelly...
Should I really be scared?

this

you might get cancer now

enjoy cancer

This. Just rub motor oil on and around your rotors to make it go away

The brakes you bought aren't even legally allowed to be sold on North America.

They literally make people sick from stopping with your windows down.. or heck they probably don't have to be down still make you sick. Don't do that again

Box that they came in...
This is some fraud bullshit

Jesus Christ, OP.

>asbestos
is this guy for real

holy shit OP, your poor lungs

Also didn't come with any hardware or a sensor...

>lung injury
oh my god what the fuck it really is asbestos

By the box they look fine. They're 12 dollar pads though I don't think all that is correct

Should have bought Callahan brakes

You gave away x amount of money to save y of money, x-y=z. Now you have to spend z amount of money to get what you should have already bought the first time. So now you are spending x+z and only getting a useful z product. Your x product you got needs to be thrown away before you inflict the cancer if a human you are on other people.

You tried to save y. Never try and save y, or you end up spending x+z. Classic x spender mistake. My dad was the same way dime smart and dollar foolish. Always buying things twice because the first cheapskate option was literally a safety hazard.

>100% non asbestos formula
>lung injury

Make up your mind, China!

V-Trust is a Canadian company.

You have to put the guarantee on the box

I dunno about that, brake dust is pretty nasty shit even without the asbestos.

kill yourself

asbestos is mined in Canada, it is illegal to sell here so we export it.

bs list of "features"
100% non-asbestos
obligatory warning:
>hazardous substances that may cause lung injury

Don't fall for these fucking frauds man.
For 12 bucks you can't expect anything but the warning to be true.

The last two asbestos mines in Canada were shut down in 2011, fag.

If it's any consolation, OP. Short term exposure to white asbestos isn't going to do shit to your body.

So they claim, but the grammer on the web site is sure Chinese... I'm not convinced they have more than a warehouse in Canada. Also, regardless where V-trust is, at that price those brake pads were manufactured in China or equivalent

Best tattoo ever. mfw I'm a newspaper carrier and exposed to it everyday (it's in ink)

ebay.ca/itm/Front-Rotors-Ceramic-Pads-BlckZinc-Drill-Fits-07-08-09-10-Toyota-Yaris/222296928449?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

That's where i bought them from, if they really are asbestos pads i'll report the fuck out of them for fraud because it clearly says ceramic.
Also not really worried about the health implications, i was grinding away a shit ton of rust at the time so when i installed them i had a respirator on. Although these got banned in the states, they are still legal in here in Canada for some retarded reason.

Oh well, ebay meme strikes again.

Why would you spend $12 on brake pads anyway?

Bosch pads are like $25 and they're fucking Bosch.

>it's in ink
What decade/third world country are you from?

Also i bought them for like $50CAD on another one of their "sales".

Chrysotile is only going to harm you if you are exposed to it regularly over the course of many years. It works its way out of the body unlike the crocidolite that Aussies unearthed in Wittenoom.

>may cause lung injury

You're fucked OP, get checked out by a doctor for lung cancer, and get rid of that shit ASAP

>get checked out for lung cancer
Asbestos doesn't kill you overnight, retard.

Yeah... I don't think a lot of these kids realize that ceramic pads are also toxic and asbestos used to be really common in a lot of things...

Here in Oregon dawg. Dunno if it has repercussions on my health honestly it can't be good

It's a boogeyman for the most part. Only those who worked around it for long periods of time are at risk. The only asbestos you have to be really careful with is the blue shit in Australia.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wittenoom,_Western_Australia

It can't do shit to your skin. It's not toxic to the touch. It just causes scar tissue in your lungs if you're exposed to it too frequently in high quantities.

>That's chrysotile asbestos. What low-end brakes did you buy, OP? Throw that shit away.
>Contains hazardous substances which may cause lung injury.
The package literally told you that it would gas you.

not saying it isn't asbestos (I have no clue), but the copper that is in brake pads is pretty nasty for your lungs as well

Asbestos is only harmful if you get a lot in your lungs. Like stripping pipe insulation all day or cutting fiber shingles. Just being around the stuff won't hurt you as long as you don't breath in a mouthful.

Asbestos used to be EVRYWHERE (like seriously, power cords, insulation, shingles, fireproof clothing, everything) and only people who handled it occupationally got sick.

>No known method exists to remove asbestos fibers from the lungs once they are inhaled.
one time is still one time too many

>Implying you can tell if pads contain asbestos from dust/corrosion.
>Implying it's legal to throw away ACM.

t. asbestos shill.
>mfw people don't realize most shit tier aftermarket brakes still contain asbestos.

they didnt even bother to crop out the Maserati logo

This is why I buy OEM.

>ebay brakes
u must value ur life op

Include me in the screecap

I doubt that the pads are aespestous, but the fact of the matter is that OP saved a few bucks on the ONE THING on a car that no one should skimp out on, and in doing so he put himself and everyone else on the road at risk. Don't buy brake pads on ebay, for the love of goodness.

he already is

You can bet his tyres are balding too

Cancer dust.
The good news is you won't have to worry about it for another 20-40 years.

You ran over a smurf, no big deal.

Well that's me fucked.

>asbestos shill
Why don't you do some research?

White asbestos fibers work their own way out of your lungs due to their wavy composition. Only amphibole asbestos breaks down into smaller pieces and works its way deeper.

Seriously dude I don't get how could you be that cheap on something like brake hardware.
Casted steel disks are as cheap as those cancer-factory you bought on ebay lol.

Probably overspray from wheel cleaner.

There is so much fucking nonsense in this thread. It's tire shine or wheel cleaner overspray that has gotten hot as fuck and dried.

...

Cum

>mfw I bought raybestos front brakes for my car because they were affordable and had good reviews
FUCK I really wish the "bestos" part of it is just coincidence

>Asbestos used to be everywhere
>Why don't you do some research?
Not that guy, but sometimes research turns up nothing on a product.

It's amazing how companies removed any mention of asbestos in their online references. Crayola crayons had asbestos in their crayons as verified by test lab results hired by a seattle area television studio's investigative news show. The wikipedia article was then updated to show asbestos but the company had a reputation management firm remove all references and then had "for hire" articles published in magazines it could then quote in the wikipedia article against that.

I work in the environmental compliance/testing industry and have had to give testimony during mesothelioma and asbestosis lawsuits

Except you'll be exposed to asbestos at any given point in time because it's a naturally occurring substance from the ground. There is such thing is ambient asbestos fibers. Be more worried imo if you're doing something stupid like burning off original sound deadening/undercoating mastic on a 50s-70s car that hasn't been restored. Even then I'd be more worried about the lead paint or filler (before bondo existed) they used at some point if it was crashed

The only asbestos fibers that you really should be worried about

>white if you're around it 5 days a week for a few years, in a Veeky Forums setting this would be mechanics who are changing brake pads a few times a week for 5-10 years.
>blue (crocilodite, from Australia, rare but I've seen it a few times in electrical boxes)
>brown (amosite from South Africa, amosite has been more commonly found in my experience especially on steam pipes and boilers)

I'd be more worried about the shitty stopping power. Who cares about the asbestos potentially killing you when you can die from running a light and hitting a truck when your brakes fade and go

Raybestos got sued to fuck for using asbestos up until the early 1980s just like Johns Mansville

It's still not illegal for use in friction products by the way in America or Canada.

This is an under-rated post

aic.org.uk/asbestos-related-diseases/

There are many studies internationally that suggest white asbestos is significantly less hazardous to respiratory health than the other variants are.

Your brake disc is also quite worn, caliper doesn't look good either.

>Should I really be scared?
When your brake pads leave deposits like that, it's probably because they are substandard qualify. Since you bought them on eBay, that seller is probably an outlet for that trashy product company.

>Less harmful means it's not harmful!

t. shill

Better stay out of the sun. Might give you cancer.

...

Saving this. God, so many times I was in this. And not just cars. Clothing too. Just buy the real shit

Everyone wants the low price. Whether or not they bitch about poor quality or longevity is a different matter. Out of sight, out of mind. The only thing most people see is the low price.

>white asbestos is significantly less hazardous to respiratory health than the other variants are
What's also harmful is how companies cover up as well as edit and sanitize wikipedia articles.

Yep, "buy once, cry once".

Cool

reminder that asbestos doesn't make for bad brake pads, it's just slightly toxic.

Do you think the air filters in cars are able to filter out asbestos particles? Or does the grinding of them from brakes result in particles too small to be filtered by the cheap high air flow cabin filters?

Why would they end up inside your car in the first place? Asbestos fibers aren't radioactive for fuck's sake.
"It's just the ebil corporations man." :^)

Mr Pruitt, go back to your EPA or what's left of it. You don't need to post here.
