why don't fighting games implement a gear system like TF2? imagine if you could farm hats in SF6 or something. it would be amazing.

Injustice 2 and Tekken 7 both have that. Injustice 2 to a greater extent with the gear actually changing character stats.

Putting in some sort of arena where you level up a character over the course of a few fights and get a loot crate at the end depending on how you did would do really well with casuals i think. I think anything that makes people who are new to fighting games stick with the games for longer is good. It's that awkward phase in between finishing story and basic single player shit and developing basic mechanical competency that 99% of people who quit are lost i think. Having a meme mode where they develop that competency a little would be swell i think.
