because angling doesn't work that way in real life.
And ranging is the hard part of shooting, not horizontal spread, so real fleets fought broadside to each other.

All coming nose-in towards a broadside enemy meant was that the sky above you rained down explosive shells from the nose of the ship, down the middle and also onto the rear end, while your ship firepower is halved or worse.
And god forbid some of that incoming storm hits either of your two front turrets, one blast alone will kill enough of the 50 crew inside the gun to make it harmless, ruin any delicate machinery and take it out of action.

Firing straight ahead actually damages most ships; if the Iowas actually fired their 16-inch guns straight ahead it would basically damage everything on deck on the prow. The British had to make significant sacrifices to allow their battleships to fire directly forwards.

Plus WGing is got it's nuts in a vice, come Monday they may loose a significant portion of the potential player market, and are actively trying to kill their own games by fleecing their market for all it's worth rather than building a sustainable market. I'll be surprised if the game lasts long enough for French BB's to come out.

AFT seems like something DM *should* have alright, but I think 3 L4 skills makes most builds quite unbalanced. I think I'll go AR - Vig and by the time I have a 19 pter somewhere I'll reconsider RL.

Big 'controversy' on the WoT's side of business that's spilling over to the rest of WGing. TB, Sterling, and, actually worse then them (since they are 'outsiders') Jingles is furious, and is going to lay into them Monday. He's threatened to drop CC status and he's about as level-headed and reasonable as a guy can be.

Already has. Look at the Hood release. If they head done all bundles at the same time, fine, you want that $100 worth of crap, go for it. But staggering it out is such a blatant cash grab, capitalizing on people not having patience to wait. For what it's worth, I was going to buy the basic most package, but after seeing the staggered release, I won't buy any now. Their behavior has *cost* them money on my part, not made them more. That will start to backfire soon and more people will get tired of being bent over the wall.

Jim Fucking Sterling Son is going to lay into them on Monday. And agree, disagree, he has a huge audience, many of whom may not have played a WGing title before which is worse than pissing off current fans. Current fans have an investment, in either money or time, and will be forgiving, but people who haven't even heard of you before, the first thing they hear is how shitty you are, they never join, since nothing is on the line to keep them interested.

If TB makes a dedicated video, that could very much in a real sense destroy their ability to get *new* players as he has one of the biggest audiences of all game critics.

at least tech tree ships are still viable. Its not world of premium ships, yet anyway.

No, they seemed to learn premium consumables are too transparent for PTW, so instead they just add 'gimmicks' to premium ships that "maybe, sorta, kinda in the right hands (imagine this in the most mincing voice you can) be overpowered."

Perfect example is the upcoming French CA prem. They nerfed before release the T6 French Tree ship's ROF, and now are basically releasing the same boat, but with the ungimped ROF. Is it as blatant PTW as WoT's? No. But bad doesn't have to come in degrees.

Anyone else really bothered by the really unrealistic secondary turret traverse speed on some ships like Yamato? I get that secondaries are nerfed in another way like accuracy and range but seeing them move sanic fast to engage enemies on the other side of the ship bothers me (especially considering how slow those same turrets are on Mogami)

Yes, that irks. WG otherwise do a reasonable job of giving the ships weight and avoiding the impression of a small model, but the issue you mention is a significant failing in that regard.

I think they will. As it stands, the biggest problem for WoWs and WoTs is that they are largely unknown in the greater PC gaming population. Most players dont know they exist. Most of that is WGing's fault, They SUCK at at marketing. I mean you dont have to go full EA, but there's a middle ground between basically nothing and EA.

TB, Sterling, Mighty Jingles, and a few others that have picked up this story have a VERY wide audience, outside the normal WGing crowed. That's a whole lot of players who, two days ago, would have said, "Yeah, I'll try that out," now, are gona have their first impression, first knowledge come from the angle of, "Look how fucked up these guys are! Oh and btw, it's a freemium PTW game on par with Dungeon Keeper." That's MUCH worse than anything else could ever be. You wana piss off your current customers fine. They already have spent money and that alone will keep them invested. But you piss off your potential market, the people you are trying to court? You are well and truly fucked. These games already have a difficult time with player growth and retention in a largely media neutral atmosphere, imagine how horrible it will be in a bad one? And contrary to popular belief, "No such thing as bad publicity," is bullshit.

In a real sense, this is going to cost them money. Big money. As they will have to advertise that much harder to get to the same place they are now. A cascade effect can happen too. Since they have to spend more money/assets on advertising, that's less assets spent on developing/impoving the games. That's less content coming out, which is more pissed off people, which just snowballs away.

Please make them fix fucking CVs with a spotlight on their horrible mechanics and practices.

This exact situation played out with Murmanskgate. I think Totalbiscuit reported on it and everything. It's not like they can't pull their heads out of their asses and admit they were wrong to make threats. Wargaming has had this kind of reputation for a long time but it doesn't matter since there are so few alternatives when it comes to these kind of games. They'll damage control, it'll get forgotten, and we'll all meet back this time next year.

Don't have to have as big of a citadel, so you save on armor weight.

In fact, they made the citadel so small that the ship could not float if the unarmored areas were flooded.

The thinking was the same than for French battleships; less areas of the ships to protect means you save up on armor weight, which was essential for treaty battleships which had to have limited displacement.
