What about ford focus mk1?

What about ford focus mk1?

Does it really mater which 3k€ 100hp FWD shitpile with poverty-grade suspension you're going to drive?

1k€* shitpile. And yes, it does matter for me

If in the US get and SVT. if in Euro ST170

Can't find those in my country tho

What country do you live in that isn't NA or Europe connected?

1k€ shitpiles in slavland/baltland are a fucking minefield.
The money you save on the actual price you'll waste on either driving around checking out the offers for something that isn't on its deathbed, or on the repairs you'll have to do just get it to a usable state if you just buy the first thing you can find.

Europe, but it's eastern europe, so yeah, all you can find here is rusty trash piles and not a single nice sight in used cars

avoid diesel models

Bottom front fender looks quite rusty there.

The Focus has a pretty good suspension actually.

Also look at 2nd gen Punto, they tend to hold up to rust pretty well.

The base models don't, the ST170/SVT/RS do.

Though you can swap the SVT/ST170 to the base models.

Yeah jusy dodged a bullet today. Didn't buy a car that was about to break down
Tfw I'm looking for diesel model
It is rusted

>looking for diesel
Definitely look at Punto II then, maybe a Stilo if you can stretch the budget.
Alternatively some VAG 1.9 TDI from before unit injectors, the 90HP version is p. undedable desu.

MK1 Focus(EU)
>feels and looks cheap
>center of mass is quite high
>engines are similar to MK1/2 mondeo except they quite aren't
>interesting design choices in the engine bay, some repairs are a nightmare
>rust
>RUST
>R U S T
>not very exciting to drive
t. someone who had one and recently took it apart for parts.
get a mondeo instead

>Fords
Fucking rust buckets the lot of them.
If you can buy it super cheap and intent to not keep it more than 2-3 years, then sure.

Look at Vauxhall Astras, or even Corsas.

Are you implying Mondeos are any better in the rust department?

Well can't buy a merc which is a rust bucket as well so

>Look at Vauxhall Astras, or even Corsas.

Only diesels are any good for late 90s models onward.

All foci have control blade IRS suspension.

get a first gen twingo.

That doesn't mean the factory springs, bushings, sway bar, shocks are even remotely decent.

The ones on the SVT/ST170 are far and ahead much better.

Vauxhall. Or Opel here. It is joked as a stereotype to be the worst car in the rust department. People don't even drive near them so they won't contaminate other cars with rust

But it's ugly

Which country are you from user?

I find that old Japanese cars are just as bad, or worse, especially Mazda. Also Fords and non-VW/Audi VAG rust just as well. If you don`t mind other problems, but want a rustproof car, get something French.
