That are still tied to class, and are introduced to the game by being selected outside of the match and aren't part of the level design. So it's not even faux-arena, nudoom multiplayer is closer to being arena.

Willy co-designed Q3 and I'm sure you can get plenty of clips of him calling QC an arena shooter, if that's your supposed criteria for an official source. Personally I think tf2 is a really good arena game, aside from hats(which keep the game alive, sadly), and stupid weapons that valve refuses to balance. I have the feeling if someone was introduced to valve in 2017 they'd probably think it was a pretty shitty company. Aside from that, tf2 is definitely the most entertaining game to spectate for me.

Picking up weapons is really retarded, causes issues with Uber(as you should know) and was only added because they added the csgo skins mechanic, which in no way helped the game.
