Why do some males players choose a female hunter? And why do some male players then dress their female characters like they're playing with a barbie doll? Even going so far as to look at every armour piece in the game to see what they like the look of.

BotW is a very fun and alive game though. Playing that should keep you occupied untill the PC announcement for MH5 at E3.

Striker, Adept, and Brave are all good picks, Guild is largely outclassed by all of them

I play girl hunters cause I like the armor better. I will dress the character like an idiot though if it means I get better skills.

I usually do a 2nd playthrough as a female so I can see the different armors.

You could just dupe the save to another slot and change the gender on that one

3U just uses a terrible font. They picked a better one in later games. You'll get used to it.

Anyone run striker lance in gen able to tell me how it compares to 3u/4u?
For some reason, I kind of enjoyed lancing in 3u (really depended on the monster) despite being at best "okay" at it, and fucking hated it in 4u. Do the striker arts make it fun, or should I avoid it for another type if I wanted to try lancing like 3u?

Brave IG would have been perfect if the vault wasn't locked behind brave mode.

The good bug commands and the auto attack are just too good to pass on though.

I like being able to hold an extract on the bug and you can't do that with brave. It is cool though.

On the plus side not being able to do that has made my aim and general bug coordination better since I have to stay on top of my extracts more frequently.

I know, but it's kind of unwieldy until you fill the meter.
Kind of like brave LS's fade slashes. You can do them from the stance, but it's not as useful and too slow

No.
Ideally, you don't ever want to sheathe your HBG while there's a large monster in the area. You just have to get good at dodging. You move around with dodge rolls, not by walking.

Since you're playing P3rd, LBG is generally considered to outclass HBG in that game, but if you're really set on using HBG I recommend using the Shield attachment while you learn.
Blocking is a bad habit and you want to graduate to using a power barrel ASAP, but it's always better to block a hit than to tank a hit to the face.

I'm not super set on it, mostly it (and LBG) are the only 2 weapons I've yet to use at all and between the two it seems better for solving the problem of running out of ammo on multi monster quests

I've been mainly using bow but with the advent of 5 and 6 star village quests having lots of 2 or even 3 monster quests the power coating crunch has been kicking in, it's still doable but it takes a while. I have a longsword I've been using for such quests on and off but I enjoy gunner type more overall so I thought HBG would probably be a good idea for the damage but I got destroyed pretty badly when I just threw one together and gave it a shot

Heavy bowguns look really rad too which is neat

Eh, unlike fade slashes which are used inbetween combos, you'd use the vault as a standalone attack so needing to use it from brave stance isn't a big deal for me.

And you barely mount anyway.

it's only been a few months since release, there's little point in doing so given the lack of data

even in mhx, towards xx's release, hbg suddenly got a ton of submissions, which shifted its position greatly late into the game's life cycle

are hellblade weapons still "better than everything else, yes, for everything, stop asking" tier in XX?
Want to know how many weapons i need to grind out level 10 versions of in gen while I still feel the urge to play it/fight hellblade in particular.

Does 4U still have an active community? I've heard too many middle-of-the-road comments about X to really want to invest anytime into it, and I'm never able to get into a MonHun game with the fan translations alone.
