Honestly I'm surprised by how quickly the fanart is spreading. Then again how many years has it been since we last got a new anthro character in the games?
I don't mind when he's drawn with much smaller glasses, the official ones are ridiculously huge to the point where they may as well be goggles. Like they're the stereotypical "cheapest pair of glasses because the kid's parents can't afford anything better" glasses you see in old 80s and 90s TV shows.
I think he would be cuter if he had another color for his chest/stomach and arms. His body looks kind of weird as one singe color

I think if Buddy is ever referenced in later games or any later licensed work, it'll be with that red wolf appearance. That's the one that showed up at the start of the trailer, and was in the gameplay trailer.

If he continues to exist at all past Forces, he'll most likely just be used as the go-to stand in for fan OCs. Sort of like Miis or Xbox Avatars or some shit, but for Sega things. Like a Buddy Car in Sonic All-Stars Racing 3, that maybe has the most customization options out of all racers.
I doubt Buddy specifically will ever become anything or anyone important.

In boxing, you jab (light, fast punch) with your off hand. Your dominant hand is the one you throw straights with, and those are the punches you put your weight into.
The most common and probably iconic boxing combination is jab, jab, straight. Knuckles throws left, left, right, left, right.
Also his stance has his left leg and left hand forward. For southpaws, it's the opposite. If his sprite just mirrors for the other direction when he turns around this is just meaningless boxing trivia.

Your dominant hand is your power punch. Set them up with a couple quick jabs in the face then go for the knock out with a power punch. Keeping it farther back allows for putting more body weight and full extension into the punch.

I hear a lot of people saying they want the type of story telling from Adventure 1 and 2 back which surprises me.

I actually really dig Archie's Mighty design. Just enough to differentiate him from Sonic while bringing about an interesting contrast between their appearances.
His fingerless gloves kind of emphasize his grappler/brawler abilities, and unlike Sonic's sneaks (which are shoes often worn for running), Mighty wears boots (which are not designed for running, instead they provide traction and protection), so it's like a call to his tendency to take things much slower and his general cautiousness and awareness compared to Sonic.
Of course, there's the aspects of his original design which already contrast Sonic really well (like the round red shell in comparison to Sonic's blue spiky back, and his pointy nose and thin round ears compared to Sonic's round nose and triangular, pointed ears)

The single color body is canon for most characters.
Sonic, Tails, Espio, and Vector are really the only exceptions.
There is usually something to help offset the color, though. Shadow and Silver have chest fur, Knuckles has the white crescent shape on his chest, all the females color balancing is handled with the clothes.
Buddy's belt and strap help a bit, but maybe could use something else.
I've actually been wondering if the male hedgehog template will have a single color body as well.
Baldy McNosehair is the perfect kind of tone for Sonic. Idiots that want something more mature out of a game are too stupid to try looking in other games for what they want and instead want it out of the colorful young children cartoon mascot. But it seems they're getting what they want with Forces and look how garbage it looks.
