Not them but what's wrong with autosave?

If you exit the world while autosave is doing its thing, your world gets corrupted. Small chance to happen but there is no point in keeping autosave on since you always exit the world using the 'save and quit' and not alt+f4.

Not really. It's not like the game doesn't shower you in chests anyway. I have never felt the need to make them myself.

I just found the skeleton merchant and waited 2 cycles (don't have clock nor sextant) but didn't see the Magic Lantern. Is there a requirement to spawn that item that is not listed on the wiki?

Is there any plain and clear documentation for armor/weapon progression with both thorium and calamity? I know when to do the bosses, but there's so much shit in terms of items that it's a bit overwhelming now in hardmode

Guys, I could never get anywhere in this game. I was told that I should just keep digging and digging. I established a base and got some shit done to prepare for the first boss, but after all the digging I just got bored. It was just getting more minerals and upgrading my pickaxe.

How do you actually play this?

I had much of the same, but instead just generally converting material into machine so it can't get corrupted/crimsoned in the first place. Stone turns to plate, dirt into synthearth, sand into metal filings, and as for the struggle between mechanical and crimson, the nanobots could get corrupted and taken over, converting metal into crimson/corruption.

But i did have other ideas. Mini-biomes in the form of various biome!Dryad trees with enemy dryads defending them. Skyland (either in or over floating islands) with clouds and some sort of skyplate stuff, or maybe sakura tree stuff and tengu.

I even had this idea about progression after Moon Lord, although it's probably stupid. After killing the ML, you'd get these massive dryad tree fortresses springing up here and there in the overworld, reaching all the way from the top to the bottom of the map, and both underworld and skyland would start expanding. Killing the dryad bosses would speed up the expansion little by little, until they met somewhere and built an arena, with the final boss: Last One Standing. Literally a mirror battle, the boss has every type of item you have. You use a sword? He's got one too, Crossbow? Also has. Guns? You got it. agic? He'll even emulate whatever spell you have. (maybe the magic item drop could have various effects by hitting a specific button combo) Summons? He has 14.

I hit the ocean after building like 2 NPC houses and getting 50 silver (merchant spawn). I take the net from him and break minirocks to get bait.. on the way.

That gets really good tools eventually, fished. Then you can skip literally all bosses for the underworld, or whatever.. meteorite..

Fun times start in hard mode, which is after you beat Wall of Flesh.

Ores should be in this order: copper -> silver - gold -> meteorite -> crimtane/demonite -> obsidian and hellstone.

After getting silver/gold armor you should be able to kill at least the Eye of Chtullu, after that make a hammer, lots of houses for NPCs to move into, and go to crimson/corruption to break orbs to get metorite to spawn. After meteorite, you should be able to handle most early game bosses.

Unless your in Expert Mode, you don't really need to build arena's for countering most bosses. You can just go at it unless your terrible
