>twin turbo AND supercharged
>gas powered
>longitudinal mounting (aka RWD)
This isn't an economy engine, since that's the job of SkyActiv-X. It's not a crossover engine since it's RWD. It's not a Miata engine, since that's about lightweight and simplicity over power. Is Mazda making a new more powerful sports car? I suspect they have an RX-7 chassis ready, but gave up on the rotary and are opting for this instead.
What is Mazda planning?
miata mazdaspeed
some miata but with more power
>I suspect they have an RX-7 chassis ready
Why? all the ever showed was the RX-Vision. i doubt they got that far. chassis cost hundreds of millions to make especially for a good one unless they take a Miata chassis and stretch it but then handling is almost guaranteed to be compromised against larger purpose-built sports cars.
Mazda are up to something, they are working on rotary engines at the moment and have just taken on r&d staff for a wankel project, its happening in the same building I will be working in soon. 100% sure I am bound by NDAs soon as I start though.
Just repost later with how much money I should save and by what year : )
>twin turbo + twin charging
the only thing you do with that is go fucking fast as fuck
this aint no upper tier miata engine
It's also worth noting Mazda has a Daytona Prototype also has a turbocharged 2L making 600HP, so I suspect they're trying to get as much power out of their 4cyl as possible for more sporty/premium products.
Volvo got 367HP out of their twincharged engine in the Polestar, so I'd definitely suspect well over 350 in this engine.
As if Mazda gives a fuck about performance cars any more.
Any Rotary engine will be a range extender for a hybrid. This is the state of Mazda performance cars.
You might not be far off, what ever they are playing with it is a hybrid setup.
Only thing that kills it is the rotary is horrible for emissions and would be a high rpm generator, better to go gas turbine or low speed atkins cycle piston engine.
You don't pick the least green engine design you have and use it as a green power generator.
The hybrid is a must in the modern world and could also fix the low speed torque hole a bit.
What ever they are doing with the rotary it is to drive the wheels in some way.

MS6 with non haldex awd would be absolutely god tier. Would be better if it was RWD but there's no chance of that happening sadly.
(keep in mind these days longitudinal doesn't mean RWD, i.e. Audi and from past years Saab and Volvo)
>MS6 with AWD
So basically Mazda should make a WRX to compete with the WRX? Because Subaru would utterly destroy them in sales and Mazda wouldn't sell even a tenth as many cars.
>he isn't aware of the Mazdaspeed6's existence
I thought the only way a rotary would pass emissions is with a laser ignition, and this doesn't mention that
Part of the plan for their r&d project is to solve that side, no secret as it was in the publically available job description.
>600HP out of a 2.0T
...
Less than zero market for coupes these days.
>what layer of forced induction are you on?
I dunno mazda, like one or two

They most definetly do since they are basing it off the ND platform and just extending it a bit. As someone that has driven a ND this gonna work out fantastically
>What is Mazda planning?
They're going to keep making shitty cuckmobiles.
>lighter than the 86 with twice the torque
Mazda pls
