all classes are more or less viable, but some excel at certain things and are weaker at others

Group PvP
Farming/Grinding (mobility, clear speed, amount of effort to kill a pack etc)
Self-sustain (amount of health/mana pots needed, from zero to many)

definitely take advantage of Olvia, you get 100% bonus xp for 30 days, normal servers only has this buff during weekends

you can hop between servers/channels whenever you want, with a 15 minute cooldown

All of the shortsword classes are hard to find. Zerker is a dying class because Striker does everything it does, but better. Everyone thinks Valkryies are shit so it isn't played much. Sorc used to be very popular, but it is in the same situation as Zerker with Dark Knight doing everything it does better. Maehwa and Musa are quite uncommon as well. Ranger used to be the fotm OP class at launch but it has fallen off hard and most of its players have rerolled.

Witch and Wizard are the most popular classes, they require no skill to play and their only weakness is in 1v1s. Warrior awakening is very solid and easy to play. Dark Knight is the new OP fotm class.

All of those classes are uncommon for a reason: you could be doing twice the work for half the effort with a better class. Fun is a thing though.

Kinda wish Dark Knight wasn't popular but I can understand why, and I'm sure a good portion of it is because it's both really good (what I've heard people say, I just started playing), and it's still fairly new I think?

I'd like to think the distribution will even out a bit more as time goes on but I'm not going to not play something I like just because it's popular.

You get more exp on olvia servers then regular ones, so yeah there is every reason for you to play there. So you can get up to speed the fastest.

Same, in general I gravitate toward knight classes that use magic with a bit of a preference for Paladins, and I don't really like playing as a human in most games. The thicc is the cherry on top for me.

Whats your gear like currently? I was always interested in Valk since I played Lancer in Tera for 2 years and the movement and attack style look similar; I ended up not getting into it because some people said that it is pretty gear dependent to have even a decent clear speed. I had just started the game and had no money so I went with something else.

How dependent is Valk on gear and level cap based on your experience? Do you start noticing a difference at 58+? Is it worth it?

valk feels a bit lacking in PvE
all of my friends clear faster than me with less AP. valk uses a lot of SP, I could do better if I bothered with carrying potions with me
PvP feels different. I'm really durable and win duels by attrition. with a meagre 140 AP I can 100-0 most of the people I come across if they don't have extraordinary DP/evasion
I'm only 58 but from what I have heard, valk doesn't "shine" until 60, and when you get there you'll definitely have great gear anyway
I've tried every class and valk is the only one that's clicked with me

i used to play valk but switched to dark knight when its awakening came out (had already leveled it to 56)

was really easy to transition to in comparison to other classes i have tried
